Ebay item 3/19/08 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-5-1968-Jaguar-XKE-2-2-CA-Black-Pl ...
Current bid $5,400 reserve not met, 7 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Very Original California Black Plate Project Car Having never been restored, this very original XKE has been stored and not driven since 1983, when the exhaust was taken off for replacement.
It still wears it's original California black and yellow license plate, and it's Costa Mesa, CA dealer frame. Bauer Jaguar was about 1/4 mile from where our shop is now.
This is a matching numbers car, with the original data plate still intact. The small "J68" tag in the lower right corner was a California delivery only thing. The engine is still intact, and is complete and together. No attempt has been made to run the engine. It will not turn over by hand. The two exhaust manifolds are rust free, but will need to be re porcelained. It appears that 1 new resonator, 2 mid pipes, and 1 front resonator were purchased at the time. These are probably useable, but the rest of the system needs to be purchased. Many new gaskets are included with the car.
Since this XKE has spent it's entire life in California it is as rust free as the day it was delivered.
It has never suffered an accident, and the door gaps are beautiful.
The interior is 100% original. The leather on the seat bottoms is torn in the seams. The leather on the rear seats are still soft, and useable. All they need is a good cleaning, as does the rest of the car.
All of the panels fit nicely. The rear door needs a slight adjustment as it rubs a bit when opening.
