I purchased this car from a friend of mine in 1994 and have a very interesting story about the engine. I checked all of the numbers and found out the engine was not the original and was from a 1968 XKE coupe. Didn't think too much about it until last year when I was poking around the XKE Data website. So I do a search in the data base for the engine # that is currently in my car and it says it belongs in car 1E34931. So I contact the current owner and tell him that I've got his engine. His car was imported to the UK from Arizona in the US and my car is from Colorado. So I ask him to check the engine # in his car and it turns out to my engine. What are the odds of that happening. I have no idea how this could have happend as the repair history to both vehicles is not available. But just know that the original engine exists and is complete and running condition in the UK is amazing. Someday we hope to reunite the engines to their proper chassis.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
