Vehicle Description
1967 2+2 E type with unique rear end. Some call this a series 1 1/2. Has three su carbs and syncro transmission. interior has flip switches and steering wheel lock.. The auto is an excellent driver. the body is straight with no rust. The engine is strong with no oil leaks. I do not know what is up with the rear. Would like to think it is a priceless one of a kind but kinda think someone rebuilt it for whatever reason. Looking at overall condition which is very good I believe the milage is accurate. Dash has a tear but the rest of the interior is in very good shape. Seats show a little crazing on the leather.

I drove up to McCall to look at this car last summer when it was advertized for sale, don't know if it sold but the asking price was about $9,000. It has been described as 'The Kami-tailed' Jaguar. The car seemed well cared for and was pleasant to drive.

very strange tail
Who had the idea of this modification ????
Is him a car designer?

This 1967 E-type 2+2 has a Kamm tail. The previous owner told me that there were only 3 of them built with this body style. I am going to post pictures on the Gallery.
The car runs perfectly and I drive it as often as I can. Last year I drove it to Winnipeg MB, a 4200 mile round trip, and this year to Banff AB, a 700 mile round trip, and it didn't miss a beat either time.
I previously owned a 1965 E-type of which I am trying to find the car number.

I was told by a member of our local British Car Club that there were a few articles in different magazines in 1967 or 1968 about the Kamm tail XKE. If anyone has this info please let me know. Thanks

Car returns to ebay 10/6/14 www.ebay.com/itm/251668749832
Current bid US $23,100 reserve not met 3 bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Spokane, Washington. 102k miles.
Sellers description:
Rust FREE car. Paint is original and shows sign of wear. There is minor paint cracking 1n isolated area of hood. Minor dimple on drivers side underneath bumper. Seals and gaskets show wear, but in great shape for age. Original radiator replaced for aluminum radiator with electric fan. Original disc brakes replaced with Wilwood disc brakes for better stopping. The lower chrome molding underneath the rear window is missing. The chrome piece underneath the front windshield needs to be installed.
The transmission and carbs have all been rebuilt.
This car is complete, honest and has not been tampered with and is "Numbers Matching" with a long history of happy ownership. It comes with the original factory Pale Primrose paint and beige interior.
HISTORY:
My wife and I bought this car from the third owner. The reason for the sale from the third owner was due to health reasons. The car was originally purchased in California and than sold to its second owner in Idaho. The third owner has owned it since 2001. The car has been well maintained and always garaged inside. It is obvious by the original condition that the car has never been abused.
MECHANICS:
The carbs, transmission, and brake cylinders have all been rebuilt. The front brakes were changed over to Wilwood disc brakes for better stopping . The original radiator was replaced with a NASCAR rated aluminum radiator with electric fan. It cn be 105 degrees out and this car will not over heat.
All of the in gauges work, except the clock. All of the switches work as well.
This car starts up with no hesitation. I am confident that the new buyer can drive this car anywhere without any concerns of breaking down.
BODY:
The body is straight and showing NO signs of rust. Body is SUPER straight with some minor paint issues and 2 minor dings that are almost invisible.
There is some rubber gaskets that show wear and may need to be replaced in the future.
I also recently found something unique about the rearend. This car is shorter than the standard XKE which explains a small production of right hand drive cars that were produced for the UK. I can not find another car like this which may make it unique. This car was at the very tail end of the series 1 production, based upon the VIN. This is a left hand drive car though.
Less widely known, right at the end of Series 1 production and prior to the transitional "Series 1½" referred to below, a very small number 10 to 20 Series 1 cars were produced, with open headlights in the uk, these series one cars that had their head lights modified by removing the covers and altering the scoops they sit in, the headlights differ in several respects from the "production" Series 1½, the main being they are shorter at 143mm from the production Series 1½ at 160mm
Production dates on these machines vary but in right hand drive form production has been verified as late as March 1968. The low number of these cars produced make them amongst the rarest of all production E Types.
GLASS/TIRES/WHEELS/CHROME:
The original glass throughout the car is all there. The original glass is in great condition. The tires are still new looking and have low miles on them. The original chrome is really good condition. There is very minor pitting on the tail lights. For the rest of the chrome, it should polish up quite nicely. The wheels still look very good and the knock offs are not deformed. The original spare tire and factory tool kit is included and in good shape.
INTERIOR: The interior is original and in very good condition. There are no tears in the seats. Original seat belts are intact and in great shape. dash pad is in GREAT condition. There is minor wear to the drivers ide carpet. The console is in great shape. The rest of the interior is all original.
This is going to make a terrific car and will be worth the effort. Happy Bidding!
Unfortunately I can not edit any of my other text in regards to the explanation of the rearend uniqueness. After further research I found some of explanation of its difference.
Yes the car is a 2+2 1967 XKE, but why did the rearend differ from its other similar 1967 XKE 2+2's?
The first story was that it was a factory option and only 3 were built. The option was called a Kamm Tail or K-Tail. American version would be a "Kammback". If that was the case, it would be a very RARE car and correspond to Jaguar's denial they ever existed.
The second story was it was modified when delivered to California.
But without supporting documentation, I can not support either story.
I can say there is no sign of previous accidents. The modification was done in such a way that it could pass easily as a factory modification. Again I can not support it and recommend the new buyer to do their own research and inspect the car.
