Central Georgia owner of a remarkably Rust Free 2+2 1966 BW Automatic LHD. Car was purchased locally in 1996 from an FAA Flight Service officer - he had stripped the car bare - and built an addition to his home AROUND the Car !!!(sport /entertainment room). After 3 days he removed a wall and I trailered it from Kathleen GA to Macon GA......Car showing less than 77K but the 3X SU's and intake had been sold. After restoring the radiator - setting up a LN SU System - the car ran great wi good oil pressure and no smoke + great throttle response.
Since 1999 - the car cas been in a garage on Jackstands - rear unit removed to replace brakes - car was overcoated with rust neutralizer then a ligh spray of ppg prime. Stopped the resto due to cost of SS Brakes (all calipers have pitting - thinking of selling since it is an early rust free example and do not want to modify the car ---- but do want to go way faster than a BW Auto is capable of. Thinking of taking offers --- want to build an ERA GT40 or a Stearman.

Awesome Rust-Free Flat Floor Series 1 2+2... the only rot at all is a very small distorted area under the battery (not really rot). Since the car turned out to be somewhat significant - I don't feel good about modifying it. Its a true Series one -
The original owner sold it to me in 1997. After stripping the paint chemically - he proceded to build a rec-room addition to his home AROUND the car...a wall was removed and 3 days later I took it home. I want to build an ERA GT40 or maybe a Stearman - I'm stopped at the stage where the car is ready for new SS Dunlops or ful on Willwood Brakes --- ie stay original or just go for it.
Really a neat car.

I'm in the keep it original camp but its your car. It's your choice, you need to be happy with it.
