Ebay item 12/10/03
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $5k, no reserve, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers comment:
Description
COMPLETE PROJECT, NEEDS COMPLETE RESTORATION. DID NOT RUN SINCE 1985, BUT I STARTED IT LAST YEAR AND IT RAN FINE, JUST SOME NEW PLUGS, SOME FRESH GAS AND FILED THE POINTS. AWAY SHE WENT. I HAVE DISASSEMBLED THE BONNET AND HAVE MOST OF THE RUST FIXED, EXCEPT THE CENTER SECTION. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS RED, BLACK LEATHER IN SURPRISINGLY GOOD SHAPE, SO GOOD, IN FACT THAT I MAY HAVE BEEN REPLACED. TRIPLE CARB SET UP. COVERED HEADLIGHTS. JAG # 1E76335. ALL NUMBERS MATCH, MILES UNKNOWN,(DON'T BELIEVE THE SPEEDO) CLEAR MISSOURI TITLE, DATED 2002, SHORTLY BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. NEEDS COMPLETE RESTORATION,.

Current bid $3,052.00 (Reserve not met), 6 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
THE REALIZATION HAS HIT ME THAT I WILL PROBABLY NEVER FINISH FIXING THIS CAR UP TO DRIVE. AFTER OWNING IT FOR 4 OR 5 YEARS NOW, AND BUYING ESSENTIAL PARTS FOR IT, INCLUDING ANOTHER BONNET, FLOORS, QUARTERS, AND LOTS OF OTHER PIECES THAT WERE BETTER THAN WHAT I HAD, AND GETTING THE FIRST BONNET ABOUT 90% SQUARED AWAY, IT JUST DOES NOT APPEAR THAT I WILL FINISH THE CAR. TO BE SURE, THERE IS STILL A LOT TO BE DONE, AND WITH ME OWNING SEVERAL OLD CARS, THE TIME JUST MIGHT BE RIGHT NOW TO LET THIS ONE GO IF SOMEONE WILL MAKE A SANE OFFER. IF YOU WERE TO BUY THIS CAR, JUST FOR THE PARTS ALONE TO FIX UP A ROADSTER OR A TWO-SEAT COUPE, IT WOULD BE A BARGAIN. I GOT THE CAR RUNNING SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT, SO THAT PART IS A POSITIVE. HYDRAULICS ON THESE CARS ARE NOTORIUS FOR NOT WORKING VERY LONG, AND CLUTCH AND BRAKES WILL NEED ALL THE ATTENTION YOU CAN GIVE THEM. UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING AT THIS LISTING FROM GREAT BRITAIN OR SOMEWHERE ELSE OVERSEAS, IT WOULD BE BEST TO COME LOOK, OR SEND AN EXPERT TO LOOK IT OVER FOR YOU, AND HELP YOU DECIDE IF YOU CAN USE IT. IF YOU ARE A TENDERFOOT AT JAGUARS, YOU SHOULD KEEP LOOKING. I HAVE BEEN IN THE JAGUAR GAME FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, HAD SIX OR MORE E-TYPES, AND CAN WALK AROUND THIS CAR FOR YOU AND GIVE YOU AN HONEST DESCRIPTION. IT HAS LOTS OF PAINT THAT NEEDS TO BE STRIPPED OFF TO REVEAL POSSIBLE OTHER SURPRISES AND SHODDY WORK FROM PAST OWNERS. THE INTERIOR IS ALL THERE, AND SURPRISINGLY GOOD FOR A CAR THIS AGE. MAYBE THE LEATHER WAS REPLACED SOME TIME BACK, AS IT WILL CLEAN UP FAIRLY WELL, THE HEADLINER IS INTACT, CARPETS ARE THERE, FLOORS LOOK TO BE FAIRLY GOOD.

this is my 6th jag. the others being an xk120, 62 etype purchased new, 65 roadster I restored, a 69 etype coupe, another 70 coupe, and so on, this one is pretty decent, needing bonnet repairs and some other slight rust issues. was a runner when I purchased it in the ST. Louis area in 200l. Really would like to get it going, but time is taken by other interests, like a recent TR6 purchase. Had e-types since l962, one of the first in the Chicago area back then.

I am the current owner, car is being assembled this year to be painted this year if possible. Mechanicals all repaired or replaced with new. retaining all original equipment possible. will be driver class car with original interior, new Carmen Red paint. She's solid , good and rustproofed. original chrome and wheels. heritage certificate matches car's numbers. I think low mileage, many years in storage for unknown reasons. a lot of previous body work had to be redone but it was not a rust bucket ever.

i bought that car from Ron Stephenson in 2010. I am just now putting it back together. it had a lot of hidden secrets is all I can say. fairly good body mostly original. I will send photos when done.
