Offered in opalescent silver/grey, this example has been the subject of a rotisserie restoration some time ago with new sills, floors and inner arches as well as a fully blasted and restored rear subframe. It represents an original lefthand drive US model car with a manual gearbox as per the enclosed heritage records. With ‘matching numbers’, it additionally benefits from a full mechanical, electrical and interior restoration. The engine was disassembled with new crankshaft and cam bearings fitted, the cylinder head was professionally shimmed with new timing chains, tensioners, pistons and rings.
A new sports intake manifold was also installed with new triple S.U. carburettors leading to a new front-to-back, stainless steel ‘oversized’ exhaust system. The clutch was also uprated with a new slave cylinder, fluid pots and pipework. Cooling was assisted by an upgraded and re-cored radiator, new heat shields, leads, hoses, thermostat and distributer. The car has also been fully ‘polybushed’ all round with new anti-drop links, new brake discs, restored callipers and new brake lines and hoses all round. The wheel bearings themselves are new with new springs and dampers, new track rod ends with blasted and restored upper and lower wishbones. The interior benefits from a similarly high level of attention with a new dash-top, new carpets and headlining (cockpit & boot), the front and rear seats sympathetically replaced and/or re-trimmed to preserve originality in areas. The driver’s seat and original steering wheel has been professionally restored whilst looking through a new windscreen with a fully working radio and all gauges in full working order, all delicately cleaned/restored to preserve originality. The wire wheels have been restored and balanced with new tyres and new front bumpers. The driving experience is reported to be exceptionally good and the attention to detail, mechanically, would leave no doubt in any prospective buyer’s mind. There is also no argument however, that this extremely well put together example does require re-painting should you wish a more complete example. The reserve, sensibly, has been set to reflect this.
