Sellers description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 FHC
Chassis No. 1E75782BW
Engine No. 7E50889-9
* Great Preservation - Previous long-term Ownership
* Desirable Closed-Headlight Series I 4.2L
* Wonderful Driver - A/C, Automatic Transmission
Highly equipped and remarkably original, this particular Fixed Head Coupe wears a pleasant combination of Primerose paintwork over black leather appointments, complemented by white line tires mounted on chrome wire wheels. This nearly lifelong California car comes from over 30 years of previous long-term ownership well suites the discerning Jaguar enthusiast.
Today, the car is very original throughout as a capable "driver" and provides a solid candidate for continued preservation or eventual restoration. The body appears to have received an exterior only respray many years ago - while both compartments remain unspoiled, including the factory crayoned body number still visible on the firewall. Its factory body number tag is riveted behind the rear California Blue license plate. Likewise, the cabin is very original with the exception of the re-leathered front seats in 2000. Air conditioning, Hickok seatbelts and automatic transmission provide comfort in city driving as do the period Motorola radio and Nardi steering wheel.
The original 4.2 Litre motor runs well and pulls strong, shifting from the transmission good. All lights and signals are in proper working order, including the wipers and instruments. This numbers-matching example is also accompanied by its jack, tools and maintenance voucher booklet, as well as registration and servicing paperwork from 1975 to present.
The revered 1966-1967 XKEs are the last to wear closed headlamps and possess the triple-carbureted un-smoged larger motor - its looks and power produced one of the greatest examples Jaguar ever manufactured. While, the XKE 2+2 and Coupes possesses the thrilling driving experience inherent in Jaguar's E-Type with the advantage of more headroom and comfort, and are rapidly becoming strong investments as desirable enclosed tourers for collector car enthusiasts.
