I have bought this car - my first E-type - and am importing it back to England. It was picked up by the shippers from Medina today.
I have spoken to the previous owner, a keen Jag enthusiast in Virginia Beach, who told me he had the car off the road for 8 years but didn't have time to touch it. He bought it c2006 from the executors of its past owner. The daughter told him the mileage was genuine, her dad had been using the car but decided to take some parts off the bulkhead to get it painted white to match the rest of the car (it seems it was Burgundy before). So he drove it into the garage, some time we think in the late 1990s, started taking parts off but never got any further.
That was in Illinois - does anyone in Illinois remember the car?? It would be fantastic to fill in some more of its history...

I now have the Heritage Certificate and have established two things -
1. the Chassis No. should be 1E75743BW - awaiting advice on how to move all this entry to that! The confusion arose because the number was clearly misread when taking out the US title - which actually has 1E757488W...
2. the original colour scheme was Opalescent Maroon with Beige interior - it will definitely be going back to that!

Having been purchased by a UK owner, this car is featured in the The E-type magazine, issue 130, September 2015. The article titled "Last Chance?" starts on page 18 and describes the shipment of the car from the US to the UK where it was ready for collection from Felixstowe on 11th June 2015.
