Data for engine is obviously wrong. Gearbox does not agree with series and Body # is questionable as well. Nice entry otherwise.

From the Chassis No. quoted build date of car would be somewhere between April and June 1968.

LOT 118
1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 2+2
Guide Price: £49,000 to £54,000
Manufacturer: Jaguar
First Registered: 1968
Model: E-Type Series 1.5 2+2
Registration No: 536 BOY
Mileometer: 40,160
Chasis No: 1E51329BW
MOT: February 2019
Colour: Blue

This is a genuine home market car (all matching numbers) first registered during 1968. The vendor states that this beautiful Jag has covered just 40,000 miles and led a very sheltered and cosseted life (including long periods of dry storage) and only had 4 previous owners from new. The body was professionally resprayed during 2017 in the correct Jaguar 'Dark Blue' (all chrome work and windows, rubbers were removed during the process), due to the original paintwork showing signs of fading and minor stone chips commensurate with a vehicle of this age. The factory Grey leather interior is an inviting place to be and is all original with just the right amount of patina to bear out the limited use and low mileage with the seats giving that superb cosseting support that is so reminiscent of Jaguars' of this period.

The immaculate chrome wire wheels and eared spinners highlight and complement the colour scheme perfectly. According to the vendor, this is the nicest driving car he has experienced, probably due to the fact that it has not been completely dismembered and rebuilt, just properly maintained and parts replaced as and when required throughout it's life. The engine is silky smooth and free revving, showing factory oil pressure and the gearbox, drivetrain, suspension and steering are all smooth and tight with no undue knocks or rattles. Upgrades include electronic ignition, Koni dampers, upgraded brakes and headlights, poly steering rack bushes and stainless steel exhausts. Recent work includes fitting a new fuel tank and fuel lines, filters, brake servo, battery, various suspension and steering components and a full service.

The Jaguar has an updated radio fitted, but the original Radiomobile unit will go with the car. Original factory fitted options include heated rear screen and over mats and the car comes complete with a comprehensive history file containing many bills, service invoices and previous Mot's plus original workshop and operation manuals etc to help authenticate the genuine low mileage and the personal registration number '536 BOY'. This car was also featured in 'Jaguar World' and a copy of the magazine is included in the history file.

Lot 284 - 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series I½ 2+2 Fixedhead Coupé

Registration 536 BOY Chassis Number 1E51329BW Engine Number 7E551209 Estimate £32,000 - £38,000

This lovely matching numbers example is presented in dark blue with grey leather interior and was purchased new from Henlys, Mayfair in London on 14th June 1968. This wonderful car has been used sparingly in its life, being used only occasionally by its various owners over the years, in particular, having been garaged from 1971 to 1986 by one of its owners and then once again between 1991 and 2009. Its outings encompassed the Jaguar E-type anniversary meeting at Donnington Park in 1991 and also at the 50th Anniversary at Silverstone more recently. Its factory grey leather is still in good condition showing a nice patina, which is complemented by its superb chrome wire wheels and the gleaming dark blue paintwork. An extensive recommissioning was carried out and some modern upgrades were added which included electronic ignition, Koni dampers, uprated brakes and a stainless steel exhaust. However, it still retains its original radio, heated rear window and comes with many old MoT test certificates to authenticate the genuine low mileage. Interestingly, this wonderful Jaguar was featured in ‘Jaguar World’ in 2016. A great opportunity to acquire one of the most popular and practical models of this iconic marque.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
