Auction description:
Classic, Historic and Thoroughbred Motor Cars, Barons (7 June 2011)
Offered here is a rare Series one and a half, so described because they were part S1 and part S2. The car evolved from one specification to the other and each car used the parts available when it was built. This example retains the slim side light/indicators located above the bumper but has open headlights and Series two rocker switches on the dash. It is also equipped with the American style centre rails on the bumpers, which were designed to protect the bodywork from the American habit of touch parking. The car is said to have been stored for 28 years due to a family dispute and though not warrantable, the 40,700 miles are thought to be correct. The car has recently been service by K & N Classics in Portsmouth and they reported that the engine was one of the sweetest they had experienced. Finished in Silver Sand with tan leather, the car sits on chrome wire wheels and is said to be in excellent, original condition and has recently undergone an MOT inspection, where it failed on a few minor items. The failure certificate is with the car.
