Did you fit the closed S1 lights? thanks Charlie

Charles,
No, the lights were covered-in by a previous owner, other than that i think the car is the same as an S1 albeit the chassis number makes it the 4th S1.5 built.

Hi David,
The car that carries the S1.5 name, is somewhat unique to North America and started production in August of '67. It was the model year '68 no exceptions due to '68 federal mandates in the USA all '68 cars had to comply. In the rest of the world those modifications were not all adopted until the '69 model year Series 2 cars. Your car with a July build date should be 100% Series 1 with the one change to open headlights which came in January of '67. Many believe these cars are S1.5 but they're not as they do not have any of the S1.5 federal modifications. It is believed that there was a coming ('68) mandate for the open headlights and Sir William chose to make that change before the forced to, probably for huge cost savings and better lighting. The Jaguar Club of North America has adopted the name S1.25 for these cars simply to help stop confusion about a true S1.5 and an S1 car with open headlights. Jaguar do not recognize anything but S1, 2 and 3.
