    Additional info for above auction:
This 1967-built Jaguar E Type, a righthand drive Series 1 4.2-litre 2+2 fixed head coupe, has been in one ownership for thirty-seven years and has only been driven approximately 2300 miles since restoration.
During the rebuild, the bodywork has been slightly modified to accommodate V12 trim, having glassfibre bonnet and flared rear wheelarches. In addition, the doors and hinges were renewed and new glass fitted all round. The GT was then painted in Signal Red and all brightwork triple-plated with copper, nickel and chrome by Derby Platers. The trim and sunroof fabric were renewed, although some said to be minor interior work does need finishing with attention required to parcel trays, armrests and sunvisors.
The 4.2-litre XK motor was rebuilt and a Jaguar factory exchange gearbox fitted. Front and rear suspension and brakes were refurbished, radiator rebuilt with new thermostats and an exchange cooling fan, and heater box and core renewed along with petrol tank and speedometer. The car runs on period Magna racing alloy wheels which have been shod with new tyres, though a wire wheel has been retained to fit into the spare wheel well.
Although there are some minor cracks to the paint declared and the GRP items apparently show a little distortion, which can all easily rectified says the vendor, the monocoque is claimed to be in good order, whilst both six-cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission are reportedly in excellent order.

That is quite a lot of work to convert the rear tail lights and bumpers on a S1 car to S2 or S3 specs. Are you certain the body number plate riveted behind the rear license plate area actually matches the body number found on the data plate up front and on the heritage certificate for the car?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
