The car was listed on Trade Classics on line auction sale of Classic Cars on 26th September 2019. Sold for £29,995. Abbreviated and amended seller's description below.
www.tradeclassics.com/auctions/1966-jaguar-e-type-series-1/
Exterior: A rare colour, Opalescent Golden Sand as confirmed by the Certificate of Authenticity. The car was resprayed in 2009 and has survived well. There is some bubbling that needs to be attended to, particularly on the drivers side. The panel gaps and shut lines are good although the passenger door strike plate needs adjusting. The chrome is good and would benefit from some polishing. The wire wheels are in good condition but could do with a new clean.
Interior: The original interior was Light Tan. It has been refurbished in recent years retrimmed in black leather with matching door cards. It is in good condition with not much wear visible. The dash is in original condition and shows wear in line with the age of the vehicle. The original steering wheel is in good condition.
Mechanics: The engine is the correct 4.2 litre engine but not the one originally fitted to the car as the number does not match the Heritage certificate or chassis plate. The engine performs well and returns good oil pressure both when hot and cold. The suspension performs well, overall the car felt smooth. The car has been fitted with power steering and this makes a difference when driving and parking.
Summary: This is a much loved E Type that has had five former keepers, the last for eleven years. History is included including MoT records and invoices that show important work including repainting and new torsion bars at a cost of £8,000 in 2009 and a waxoyl, fitting a Kenlowe fan, Thatcham alarm, new bushes and roll bar, and installing power steering in 2010. If you want a proper series one to use and enjoy this car has to be it.
