Ebay item 6/5/09 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Ser1-5-Coupe-Original-Solid-Survivor-1968- ...
Current bid $5,655, no reserve, 3 bids 9 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
I am believed to be the third owner of this Very Straight and Solid 1968 Series 1.5 Jag E-Type 2 seat Coupe, in Very Good Original condition, that was discovered after nearly 30 years of dry storage. Truely a "SURVIVOR" and After 2 years and over $17k of mechanical restoration and accepted updates (cooling and brakes) it is ready to enjoy and drive safely and dependably today. All numbers match. Clear Indiana title. This car will be SOLD to a new owner in the next 10-days if not before!!!
It is in it' original "Sable" Brown color with possibly even it's original paint, but I can't be totaly sure. But rest assured that what you see and get is NOT hidden by new shiney paint covering gobs of "bondo" over the lurking "tin-worm" as in many E-types that you will find. This is truely an Honest and well preserved specimen for anyone knowledgable enough and desiring an Un-Molested example!!! The only rust I have found is small spots or normal patches at the front and rear of the rear wheel arches and in the lower passenger door skin and they have never been repaired previously. The rockers, sills and floors are all solid and original! I see no evidence of any prior accident damage except a slightly wider gap on drivers-side bonnet to cockpit fit, but the bonnet was removed for radiator work so it may be missing a shim! After being covered with dust and dirt, having many little nicks and door dings, and 3-4 larger scratches and dents, I would call it a 20-footer even though it cleaned up very very nice and shows excellently!!!
In late 1975 the speedo stopped functioning for the second owner at 39,396 miles and he parked it in late 1978 documenting that the original milage at that time was 50,000 Original Miles as shown, certified and listed on the Title, Registrations, and State Inspection Receipts, that he attested to and that I received from him. After a new speedo drive gearbox and speedo cable and my 216 pleasurable and joyful miles this past weekend, the car now "Offically" has 50,216 original miles on it although the speedo states 39,612 at this time!

Mechanically this XKE is excellent. Some of the restoration work and updates preformed are:
Full fuel system update/replacement: gas tank taken out and professionally re-done in and out, New sending unit, New fuel pump, New fuel lines and filter, and both carburetors totally Overhauled and Adjusted correctly
Radiator sent out and professionally re-done with 4-core update, New thermostat, water pump, otter switch, fan belts and all cooling and radiator hoses/clamps replaced
NOS rear 1/2 exhaust system(muffler back) clamps and hangers
All new Brake Hydraulics, including New master cylinders(2), Servo, Front Wilwood Caliper Conversion, Rear H/D Girling Caliper Halves, and all 4 stainless steel/rubber caliper brake hoses
New updated front vented, drilled and slotted brake rotors(Classic Jaguar kit), New rear OE type brake rotors, and E-brake cables(rear axle came out for work to be completed)
New updated front ball joints, front wheel bearings, grease, front wheel seals, rear axle seals, pinion seal
Older style wheel NOS 2-winged Knock-Offs, matched set of later nice used Series Three Dunlap Wires Wheels, and 4 New Pirelli Cinturato P3000 205/70 R 15 95T M&S Tires
New Clutch hydraulic master cylinder and slave cylinder with all fluids flushed and replaced
Total electrical and charging system check with new voltage regulator box and battery installed
All filters, oils, hypoid, fluids, grease, antifreeze flushed and replaced with the new modern higher spec equivalents, tune-up and valve adjustment also completed at this time
All gauges and lights work, excluding the clock (sometimes does but mostly does not)! The air-conditioning system works fine but blows a bit cool but not cold, and needs a charge of R-12 (one can included). The transmission gears shift smoothly, effortlessly and quietly while the car starts easily and revs quickly to it's red-line after warmed up. Only a bit off normal black smoke on start up due to the carbs being set up during winter a bit richer, It never overheats, runs cool NOW in any traffic conditions whether in Maine or Florida. Stops on a dime Now, with real non-fading disc brakes that will actually lock-up the wheels and skid the tires. All "Trip-Lex" Glass is excellent and original. All 4 original "Union" keys and all locks work flawlessly, including the ignition doors, and glove box locks. Even has the chrome Jaguar on the ash tray cover. The original woolen headliner is near mint, the leather interior is in very good condition as well as is Wilton woolen/carnival factory carpeting. Factory original Steering Wheel with no cracking, splitting, or separating, has the rare and original "Kangol" seat belts and has it's rarely present Factory shift ball. The factory Original "AR" tube-type radio works great, along with its original antenna and consol mounted speakers. It's Factory Original Dunlap SP Sport 185 VR 15 spare tire and Dunlap wire wheel has never been used before by evidence of it's rubber nubs!
This E-Type is a European buyer's dream, with your now much stronger Euro, a coupe model, and un-molested down to it's Original Ignition wires, coil, battery cables, and even the engine compartment wire ties all intact. Nothing hidden and very detail and honest descriptions!!! Bid with absolute confidence and own a very nice Survivor "Time Capsule" 2 seat XK-E
