This example left the factory in British Racing Green and was stripped and repainted black during the aforementioned refurbishment. The bumpers, handles, and trim are also said to have been re-chromed and the windshield, side mirror, and headlights was replaced. The seller reports that the passenger door is misaligned.

Replacement chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and are mounted with 205/70 Kumho Solus KH16 tires, while a matching spare is stored under the trunk floor. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. According to the seller, the brakes were overhauled using stainless-steel pistons during the refurbishment.

The bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather and fitted with lap belts with “Leaper” crests under current ownership. A replacement headliner and black door panels were also installed, and the seller states the rear deck was refurbished, Dynamat sound-deadening material was applied to the floors and firewall, and replacement carpets and floor mats were fitted. The air conditioning system and heater box are also said to have been refreshed at that time. A retro-style head unit housed in the dash features an auxiliary input and is wired to Kenwood speakers.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation fitted with LED bulbs, including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer while supplemental gauges are centrally mounted in the dashboard along with an analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six and dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors were reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment. A larger aluminum radiator with an electric fan was also added, along with electronic ignition and a replacement starter and fuel tank. A service was completed in July 2023 to correct a fuel leak.

Engine stamping 7E14477-9 corresponds with the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, as well as the number shown on the reproduction data plate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, which is said to have been rebuilt along with the rear end. A lightened flywheel was reportedly added, and a replacement stainless-steel exhaust system was installed.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the build date, original colors, and drivetrain numbers.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
