Opening bid $2,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar FHC series 1.5 (not a 2+2) with all matching numbers.
Here's your chance to revive a very desirable and rare classic.

Bought this disassembled vehicle off of e-bay a short while back. I just don't have the skill to do this project justice. It was advertised as a solid vehicle needing no major parts. Unfortunately, the truth does not substantiate the claim.

As I have dug into this vehicle, I have discovered serious rust issues that had been nicely camouflaged with an overlay of tacked on sheet metal. As a little bonus all of the parts that were included with the car were for a 2+2 and don't fit this fixed head coupe. The missing parts can be had on e-bay but I just don't have the patience to deal with e-bay anymore. Losing in the last minute by 1 dollar is getting real old.

So here's the real story:
The tub:
I have replaced both the kick plates and the sill plates. I have also cut away a lot of the rotted sheet metal in and around the driveshaft tunnel and welded in new. What you can't see in the photos is the rot within the bulkhead. The three wiper mount seals are missing and it appears water collected in the enclosed area of the bulkhead and it rusted through. Obviously, this area is real hard to get to. There is also a lot of bondo in the sills on both sides. It appears both footwells and the entire boot were replaced shortly before I took over this "project". Oddly the rest of the tub and both doors are in really nice shape.

The Engine frame:
Looks good, needs paint

Drivetrain
The engine is disassembled and will need to be machined. A new set of 20 over pistons is included The block appears to be in good shape over-all and the head looks good. Obviously the water pump and oil pump should be renewed. Don't know about the starter or alternator. The clutch needs to be renewed and both primary and secondary master cylinders need to be rebuilt. Both cooling fans will need to be rebuilt. Driveshaft is missing. Comes with new hoses and a complete gasket set.

Exhaust:
The mufflers are missing, as are the resonators. I do have a set of headers that go with the car as well as the original exhaust manifolds.

Fuel System:
Dual Stromberg carbs that have been rebuilt. Missing air cleaner canister.

Body:
Here's where it gets expensive. It appears the car was completely stripped in order to paint. Known to be missing: Door hardware for RH door. (external handle, latch mechanism). Windshield is missing as are the chrome pillar covers..

Bonnet:
From a series II, it is damaged and in need of some skilled body work. When I got it, the mouth was completely crushed in. I have bent it back out and cut out a patch of rust. Valance is in pretty good shape with light surface rust. Ducting is removed but intact. Good sugar scoops but missing eyebrows. Comes with Series 1 covered headlights which don’t fit this bonnet.

Brakes:
All need rebuild and replace. Master and slave cylinders need rebuild. Missing reservoirs

Suspension:
Appears to be original front and rear

Rear End:
Don't know. It is missing one of the radius arms though.

Also includes an exta drivers side door. All hardware intact. New Pertronix ignition. Extra switch plate from an XJ.

This is all that I know and I am hoping that the photos will clue you in on the rest. If you don't see it in the photos, I don't have it. If you like, I will include a whole bunch of 2+2 parts with the deal. Good e-bay material.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
