    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-JAGUAR-4-2-1E-34625_W0QQitemZ270137437235
Current bid $5,100 reserve not met, 4 bids, 4 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
The car run’s and drives smooth and tight as you would expect a car with 31,500 + miles should!

The Jaguar factory doesn’t recognize series 1 ½, the factory labels this particular car as the last of series I, My car made it out of the factory with the Bonnett which includes the covered glass headlamps. One huge plus to this particular car is the factory droped Lucus electrical system in 67’ this car lights up like x-mas tree.

Condition and other information: The factory labels this car series I. Very complete and original condition w/ some controversy as to being a split year car of 1968 and factory changes incorporated during the series I to series II transition, with only 546 cars built, this is a very rare and controversial production “E“-type 4.2 series 1 ½ cat ! Standard coupe standard 4 speed transmission.

    I) The paint is red w/ areas of touch up. My opinion, needs paint and further restorations.

Note: Areas of peeling, cracking and paint fractures exist, also some small dents dings and scratches to the exterior body of the automobile.

II) Body rust, minor at the typical E-type (Susceptible to rust area’s).

    1) At the battery box and under.
    2) Front of passenger rear wheel.
    3) Inner front fender wells, at tire wear areas and under the bonnett.
    4) Surface rust at spare wheel compartment area and under.
    5) Behind driver side front wheel at under body area.

    All six area’s of rust:
    a) Coin size, smaller, or surface rust only.

    III) Standard model. Note: “Not a 2 + 2”!!!!!

    1) Rims 5 mounted with car and 2 spares w/ out tires all chrome spoked wheels in very good to excellent original condition. That’s seven in all!
    2) Tires- 30 year old firestone 500’s, obsolete (hold air, but need replaced) although very cool.
    3) Glass, good original condition w/ some imperfections at driver side roll-up window, and head lamp covers. Also rear-view mirror fell off taking a bit of glass with it. Its up and mounted now!!
    4) Interior headliner is in exceptional condition, gray in color.
    5) Dash has crack lines at top section otherwise all complete Including gages, switches, etc.
    overall excellent.
    6) Interior color: black.
    7) Vinyl interior is good to excellent condition considering age.
    8) Leather seat’s, one minor tear on driver side seat.
    9) Electrical system, lights and instrument panel all worked fine, surprising for 20 years stored.
    10) All fluids changed and tune-up parts installed.

IV) Replacement of these items to make the car drive and go have been installed.

New factory original equipment Jag. Parts include:
    Slav cylinder for clutch
    Vacuum brake booster
    Brake master cylinder
    Brake fluid containers
    New battery box
    Fuel tank boiled and sealed
    Carburetor rebuild
    Brake lines
    Fuel lines
    Battery- Not original equipment!
    New ignition switch

    V) My opinion: At this time parts to replace, or missing parts include:

    1) Seat belt broken on driver side
    2) Fan heater motor align.

Work in progress - completely disassembled and restored 90% complete. Bonnet was previously replaced with Series 1 bonnet with covered head lights.

    2016-10-29 05:53:24 | Robert W Fabec writes:

Since purchasing car I have about 3 1/2 years into its restoration with about another year to complete. Bonnet and picture frame apparently were acquired from a donor 65 OTS with the vin # visible on the frame. The car was impacted on LH front corner necessitating replacement of bonnet and parts of sub frame. Foot wells had to be replaced, seals had to repaired with patch panels, fuel tank rotten and replaced with new one, area under spar tire had to have rusted areas cut out and repaired with patch panels.

Engine was disassembled and rebuilt with new bearings since old ones were scored by something. In spit of that and rust in water passages, it was obvious that engine had low mileage with cylinders not being out of round with no ridge detectible at top. All exhaust valves were burnt and all freeze plugs were weeping.

Front brake calipers were replaced with 1 3/4 inch ones intended for rear with rear calipers partially inoperable. Booster was inoperable filling the brake vacuum tank with fluid.

Working on this car has been a pleasure. I am conflicted as to whether I should retain the Ser 1 bonnet or convert it to an open headlight ser 1 1/2. My inclination is to keep the ser 1 bonnet as is with possibly a later conversion ?

    Will be forwarding pictures.
