This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe has been in the seller’s family since 1993 and was acquired by the seller in 1997. The car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is finished in its factory shade of maroon over black leather upholstery. Equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes. An electronic ignition system was installed as part of a $14k service in November 2023 that also included replacing the steering rack. This XKE coupe is now offered with service records dating to the late 1980s, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted its original color of maroon in 1995 under previous family ownership. Exterior features include sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185VR15 Dunlop SP Radial tires. The torsion bars were replaced in May 2013, and the steering rack was replaced in November 2023. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the brake fluid was changed in October 2023.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, an AM radio, a heater, and a manual override switch for the cooling fan. The steering column was rebuilt in 2023. The clock does not work.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. Gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 71k miles, about 21k of which have been added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower. An engine-out reseal was performed in 2020. Service in 2023 included installing an electronic ignition system, changing the coolant, and replacing the spark plugs and points. The oil pan drain threads are stripped due to a metric plug being installed.
The cylinder head stamping reads 7E11913-9 and matches the sequence listed as the engine number on the chassis plate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The gearbox oil and differential oil were changed in November 2023.
A tool kit and service records dating to the late 1980s are included in the sale.
The vehicle’s car number is 1E34123, and it is titled by the VIN J671E34123
