This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was initially delivered via Overseas Motor Corporation in Houston, Texas, to Fretwell Motor Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where its first owner would take possession of the car in 1967. It was then driven to California, where most of its 17k shown miles were added until the engine failed in 1969, at which time the owner stored the car, and it would remain off the road after ownership was transferred to his sister in 2009. The current owner purchased the car in 2011, and mechanical refurbishment work carried out in 2018 involved overboring the 4.2-liter inline-six, rebuilding the triple SU carburetors, replacing the clutch for the four-speed manual transmission, and refreshing the disc brake system. Finished in Oyster Beige over tan leather, the car is equipped with 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, grille bars, and a push-button radio. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, original purchase documents, removed parts, and a California title.
This Series I E-Type was delivered with an Oyster Beige finish as well as front and rear grille bars.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 215/70 Uniroyal thin whitewall tires. The disc brake system was overhauled in 2018 and fitted with a replacement master cylinder and servo assembly.
The cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in tan leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. The clock was repaired in 2019.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 17k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was overhauled and bored .020″ over by Jon Pollock Restorations of Reseda, California, as part of refurbishment work that was carried out in 2018. Mahle pistons were fitted and the bearings, timing chains, and fuel pump were replaced. Components that were rebuilt or refurbished include the triple SU carburetors, alternator, starter, and radiator.
The engine block stamping is shown above, and additional photos of identification numbers are included.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch was replaced as part of the work completed in 2018.
A Jaguar Cars invoice to Fretwell Motor Company of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma lists equipment, options, and a total price of $6,685.90. A Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, purchase documentation and historical registration documents will also accompany the car.
Spare and removed parts are included in the sale along with manufacturer’s literature and a tool roll.
The chassis plate is shown above, and the sequence 1E33563 is listed as the VIN on the current California title prepended with “J67”. The California title carries a “Title Only” notation.
