Auction description:
Sale 13184 - An Important Sale of Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia
Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club, Carmel, California 19 Aug 2005 at 12:00
Lot No: 1041•
1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 4.2 Liter Fixed Head Coupe
Chassis no. 1E32902
The 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I 4.2 liter fixed head coupe offered here is a low mileage example that, other than a partial repaint, is completely original. Presented in its original White with Black leather interior, it is fitted with an AM radio and chrome wire wheels and comes with its original tool kit and books. The present owner acquired it about six years ago. The brakes were rebuilt at that time and the XKE has been driven only a few thousand miles since. The owner reports it runs well and is ready to be used and enjoyed.
Estimate: $32,000 to 34,000

Sold at above (Bonhams & Butterfields) auction 8/19/05 $35,650. Odo 11,799 miles. SCM reports mismatched paint between hood top and sides, small chips and dents in several panels, sanding marks under paint on rear quarters, overspray on door and window rubbers. Waviness in rockers and right door out at bottom and trailing edges. Seats have good patina with no tears. Shrinkage in carpets.

Current bid: $30,101 reserve not met 5 bids seller dusty356a, 12k miles, car now in Pleasanton, California.
Seller's description:
1966 Jaguar E-Type Fixed-head Coupe "survivor": Always garaged; 100% solid original floors; superb original interior (seats redone); low original miles; all numbers match; runs and drives beautifully. We purchased this fine E-type from the estate of a collector, it was represented as 12K original miles, something we always approach with extreme skepticism. However, when we received the car and inspected it closely we discovered many telltale signs of extremely low miles and perfect storage conditions throughout this car's life: The exhaust systems appears to be completely original; many of the engine hoses and hose clamps appear to have never been removed or replaced; all the paint under the bonnet, in the engine compartment, jams, and in the trunk is untouched original. The car has had one repaint on the exterior, a high-quality job. All the records with the car are consistent with the extremely low miles on the odometer. Everything we see is consistent with a rare low mile E-type FHC that has been always serviced and kept as you see it. While I hesitate to represent any car this age to have such extremely low miles, we see nothing that suggests otherwise. Heritage Certificate included.
