Ebay item 7/24/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $10,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Body in very good condition, no rust on body panels (metal replaced during body work) possibly some on floorboards. Entire brake system professionally
overhauled (front & rear calipers, new master cylinders, servo kit, silicone brake fluid). Upper & lower ball joint kit, bushings, front hub seals, rear hub kit & bearings professionally installed. Exhaust replaced (both headpipes and mufflers). New coolent expansion tank. New carpeting. New headliner. Leather seats recovered.
Now for a couple negatives. I suspect he clutch will need adjustment or replacement in the near future. The car drives fine with no slippage, however it is a little difficult going into 2nd gear. New rear motor mounts are needed which would remove a very intermittent ticking of the drive shaft. Tachometer doesn't work (It did, most likely a cable).
A shop manual is included along with matching paint, an extra intake manifold and window wipes for the side windows which need installation.
I'm far from a mechanic but will be happy to answer any questions about the vehicle or its history during my ownership.

From the auction description the car is supposed to only have 56,061 miles on it. The exterior paint color was white at one time according to the following questions & replies:
Q: How would you rate the quality of the paint and body panel gaps? Is there any smoking out the exhaust, or big oil leaks? Jul-24-05
A: Hello, The quality of the paint is excellent. The body panel gaps I would rate as average. There is no smoking from the exhaust or big oil leaks.
Q: Hi, my name is Fred from germany. Nice car! Could you send me more detailed photos? In wich condition is the paint? Rust on the undercarr.? Does the engine works fine? Any damages or accident? best regards Fred Jul-24-05
A: Hi Fred, The current paint is in excellent condition (the original paint was white) I believe there is a small hole on driver side floor board, otherwise virtually rust free. The engine works fine. No damages or accidents. Let me see what I can do regarding more pictures. The ones I currently have are repetitive of the ones I have posted.

More answers to questions about the car:
Q: Nice Jag! Was the repaint done throughout, that is did they paint the jambs and underside of the bonnet? Is the blue interior original? Is that 56,000 miles original? How many owners? Can you expand on the rust issues? Will you help with shipping if I "buy it now" ? Thanks- Wade. Jul-25-05
A: Hi Wade, Thanks! I'll have to check on the underside of the bonnet (I believe it is). The door jams are definitely painted. The blue interior was original to this car (The exterior color was originally white). As far as I know the 56,000 is original. I have had the car for ~7years (since 1997). I believe the gentleman I purchased it from, he lived in Coopersburg PA, also had it for ~7years. Beyond that I am unsure. A couple hours ago I just crawled under the car in response to questions about the rust and didn't find any. A past potential buyer commented that he detected rust on the underside of the floorboards therefore I took his word for it and included it in the description in fairness to any buyers. Upon my inspection I didn't see any rust and everything felt very solid (only paint and undercoating). Where are you located and what did you have in mind regarding shipping. Regards, Mike
Q: Can you provide the other numbers (engine, gearbox, and body numbers) off of the data plate that should be riveted down low on the side of the firewall? Thanks Jul-25-05
A: Engine 7E565 1-9 Body E22709 Gearbox EJ4719
Q: I am curious how long you have had the car? Was there any particular reason that the motor mounts have not yet been done? Jul-25-05
A: Hi Randy, Approximately 7 years. The issue of the motor mounts was a recent discovery. The ticking of the driveshaft is something that just started happening and I was told that the cause of this was the deterioration of the rear motor mounts. I have only put ~ 1,000 miles on the car in 7 years. It does a lot of covered, sitting in a heated garage most of the year.
Q: Is this a 2-seater or the 2 + 2? Also there appears to be part of the center console missing - do you have that? Is the mileage genuine? or post-rebuild? How long have you owned it and do you know any details of it's history? Thanks, David Jul-25-05
A: Hi David, It is a 2 seater. I do have a center console, front panel, and speaker box. I'm not sure if the front panel is original but it is in OK shape. The speaker box is pretty rough. I believe someone previously tried to retrofit a different radio and cut some metal to do so. They are both included though. As far as I know the mileage is genuine, however I have never completed a title search or anything of the sort. I have owned the car for ~7years. I purchasedit from a man in Coopersburg, PA who I believe owned it for ~7 years as well. I do not know the history beyond that. Regards, Mike
Q: Hello, could you answer some questions about your car? GENERAL: How long have you owned it and do you know it's history? When was restorative work done? How is weatherstripping & glass? How are tires? Condition of chrome? PAINT: When was it last resprayed? Any bubbles, runs, chips, dings? RUST: You seem to say some pans might have rust. Do all the floor pans have rust? How bad? Any rust to bottoms of doors? Other rust? BODY: What metal panels have been replaced? Any bondo in repairs? Doors sag any? ENGINE: Any rebuild work? Start OK? Oil Pressure OK? Any smoking? Any undue noises? Oil leaks? INTERIOR: Do you have forward console & radio for car? Condition of it? When were carpets replaced? Condition of dash & dash top? DRIVABILITY: I am looking for a dependable, strong driver. How does it perform? Strong engine? Carbs adjusted? Track straight & true? Cornering tight? Any other problems than those listed? Other photos of engine bay would be great. Thanks Richard Jul-25-05
A: I have owned the car for ~7 years. I purchased it from a man in Coopersburg, PA who I believe owned it from Early 1990. Beyond that I do not know. The restorative mechanical work was done late 1997 shortly after I purchased it. The body work and paint was completed mid 1998. No bubbles, runs. Maybe a few minor chips from the road. The paint does have a rubbed spot where the drivers door is not aligned perfectly. I am certain I have driven the car less than 1000 miles since this work was completed. Also it has always been in a heated garage. Glass, Tires and condition of the chrome very good. The chrome is original. I was told previously by a potential buyer that there was some rust on the floorboards, therefore I included it in the description. I just looked under the car and cannot detect any rust under the floorboards at all, only undercoating and paint. No rust anywhere on the body. There was no metal replacement on the bonnet. The driver-side door skin, driver-side bulkhead, both rocker panels and both rear fender arches were replaced. Only enough bondo used to smooth out the seems. Driver door has a minor sag. No rebuild work on the engine. Starts immediately. Oil pressure between 20-40 during normal driving. ~10 during idle. No smoking or undo noises. No oil leaks I can find, cetainly none on the garage floor. I have a decent front panel to the forward console and a very rough looking speaker box. Carpets and headliner were replaced just after the paint, mid to late 1998. Dash and top of dash is good to very good. The engine seems to be very strong and have a lot of pull. It runs very nice but not ideally. I believe a minor tune up and carb adjustment would be appropriate because the car does a lot of sitting (~1000 miles in 7 years). It tracks straight and true and corners nicely. I do not believe there are any other problems than I have listed. I try to be as descriptive and forthright as possible.
