Car came with kiometer speedometer and yellow running lights both front and back. Bought car in 1990, and finally got it restored by 2000. Have shown it locally

This car has taken almost 10 years to restore back to the condition it is today. The bonnet is now as is the rear underbelly. The car was serviced in 1966 in Lisbon, Spain as indicated by service stickers left on car when I purchased it in 1990. It is a great car and I have no fear of taking it anywhere.

Private Party Or Dealer: Dealer

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a red-over-black Series I coupe that is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Features include triple SU carburetors, chrome bumpers, Koni shock absorbers, wire wheels, a side-opening rear hatch, and a Clarion stereo. The car was refurbished in in the 1990s by a previous owner of 20 years, and it was purchased from its subsequent owner by the selling dealer in May 2021. Services performed since April 2013 have included rebuilding the transmission, distributor, and oil pump, as well as replacement of the clutch components, headlight assemblies, and windshield. This Series I XKE is now offered by the selling dealer with tools and accessories, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records dating back to 1988, historical photos, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean New Jersey title.

During the refurbishment completed in the 1990s, the body was disassembled, stripped, and repainted in its current shade of red. Features include Talbot-style fender-mounted mirrors, split chrome bumpers with guards, a vented hood, and a sloping tail with a side-opening hatch. The hood was replaced during the refurbishment, and corrosion on the right-side rocker panel was repaired in 2018. Additional services performed since 2018 have included replacement of the headlight assemblies, as well as the windshield and various window and door seals. The selling dealer reports paint bubbling around the left-side hood vent.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels secured with two-eared knockoffs are mounted with 205/70 Dunlop Signature tires, which were installed in May 2010. A matching spare, along with a hammer and jack, are stored under the trunk floor. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard rear rotors, and Koni shock absorbers have been fitted.

The twin bucket seats are upholstered in black leather, which is complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Equipment includes lap belts, a padded armrest, toggle switches, pop-out rear vent windows, a remote-controlled Clarion stereo, and a fire extinguisher mounted behind the driver’s seat. The right-side door panel was replaced in September 2020.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 260-km/h speedometer, a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline and inset clock, an ammeter, and auxiliary gauges displaying coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. Under 35k kilometers (~22k miles) are shown on the five-digit odometer, fewer than 100 of which were added by the seller. The ammeter is reported to read inconsistently.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. Following the refurbishment in the 1990s, the engine was removed and inspected in April 2012 and the oil pump and distributor components were replaced. The carburetors were adjusted in September 2020, and additional services performed at that time included an oil change and replacement of both fuel filters and the camshaft cover gaskets.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in April 2012. The clutch components, including the slave cylinder, were replaced at the same time, and the transmission fluid was changed in September 2020.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate is included in the sale, along with a car cover, manufacturer’s literature, photos taken from the refurbishment, and service records dating back to 1988.
