This was my car, owned from 1982 until its sale to a dealer in 1998. I comtacted this gentleman in August 2003, to see if I could find out where this car finally went, and he informed me that it was sold and subsequently shipped to Germany. Although I had refinished the car in BRG/Cinnamon, the original colors were opalescent dark green with beige upholstery. This is a matching-numbers car, with the exception of the cylinder head, which I had to replace due to severe corrosion.

Some additional information on this car: As mentioned in my previous posting, this was a matching-numbers car, with the exception of the cylinder head. I've dug up some old notes and the engine number is 7E1114 and the gearbox number is EJ056. This is the early, close-ratio box. The car still had the 3.54:1 final-drive ratio at the time of sale. To the best of my knowledge, I was the car's fourth owner. It appears to have spent the first year or two on the east coast, as the UKN 920 license plate is circa 1967. I purchased the car in 1982, as a non-runner, in Simi Valley, CA. I ran the car in a state of "arrested decay" until 1991, when I was finally able to take it off the road for restoration. When completed in 1993, it provided excellent service until its sale in Santa Barbara, in July 1998. My favorite road trips were the annual runs to the Monterey Historic Races. I believe it made that run eight times. In sixteen years of ownership it always got me home. If the current owner would contact me, I'd like to know how the old beast is doing.

I hope 1E30036 is doing as well in Denmark as it did in southern California!

It's great to see that the old beast still looks good! It's a little strange to see parts I had my hands on so long ago. The stainless exhaust and K&N air filters are nice improvements. The car looks great; I hope it's running well. I just purchased 1E32208, so the process is about to repeat itself. Good luck with 1E30036 and keep us posted.

Anthony here - current owner of 1E10010 . You mentioned the "split" ID plate and I was hoping ot see a picture of it. Anyway - seems like you have done a few. Any other quirks? The original water pump on mine could not be removed without removing the studs from the block first, which I am sure was corrected in later builds.

Morten, thanks for continuing to provide photos of '036. While I miss the car it's reasuring to know that it's being very well cared for and enjoyed eight years after I last saw it. Beautiful country, too. It's the featured car in today's blog, so I posted a few comments.

I've been going through old photos taken when I owned '036, and scanning the ones I think are worth posting. There's a lot there that's interesting, and a lot that is not. I sure wish that we'd had digital photography in the 1980s and '90s!

Here's some more information on this car. When I purchased it in October, 1982, it was from a Mr. D. Tobias. He and his brother had shared ownership for several years, and at one point the car was in Ohio. In the papers that came with the car, I found a California title listing a Mr. G. McVickar as the registered owner circa 1970. I did find a map of Norwalk, Connecticut under the seat when I got the car, so it is possible that someone had brought the car out to California during a move. The UKN 920 California license plates are circa 1967, which supports this. Hope this information is of some value. I'll also scan some more photos taken during my ownership.

I just ran across a few more photos of '036 and scanned them. They should post shortly. Nothing spectacular, just some general-interest stuff taken during my years with my old friend. Wish I still owned the old beast, but hope she's doing well these days!

I just learned that 1E30036 was sold in 2012. Hopefully the current owner will post its whereabouts and maybe include a few photos.

I recently Googled the chassis number for my old beast, and it appears that it's still in Denmark, just under a different registration number. I would love to see some recent photos, if the present owner is willing to post some. Hard to believe that '036 left my hands over 22 years now...
