1st LHD 4.2 FHC! Being fully restored by Images - car was sent to Los Angeles auto show (see grease markings in rear hatch)

I removed the body number you entered as it was wildly incorrect. Please record the other numbers (engine, gearbox, and body numbers) off of the data plate mounted down low on the side of the firewall.

    Thanks

Did a little research in our data base and it looks like the body number should be "4E20005"

Please confirm from data plate however as well as recording the other two numbers.

    Thanks

Are you going to send off for the Jaguar Heritage certificate for this car?

It would be interesting to see if there was any mention of the LA auto show or other unusual things in the factory records for this car.

Dana, have you joined the E-Type Club yet, I'm the CA representative, would love to have this rare car in the club and write an article on it.

Good to see that the first LHD 4.2 is alive and well! I owned 1E30036 from 1982--98. Currently own 1E32208. Please keep us posted regarding progress and feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments. Any information I have about the really early 4.2s is in my head or my notes, but I'm willing to help where I can.

Saw the original data plate - trans # does not have a suffix.

An expose on this car was featured in the March '07 issue of "The E-type" issue 28. Car is now completely restored to concourse level. Absolutely gorgeous.

I finished the interview started by Richard Brown on this car when it was finished. It is truly concours. As well the owner owned a machine shop and then engine on this car sounds truly exceptional.

Car is mentioned in the 9/11 issue "the E-type" magazine as having been shown at Pebble Beach in August.

NOT shown at Pebble Beach, but one of about 20 E-types shown at 'The Quail' in Carmel Valley on Friday of the same weekend. There were just four very historic Es at Pebble on Sunday for the E-type 50th anniversary; the original Geneva and New York Show cars (885005 and 885004), which were together for the first time ever, the highly original and low-mileage ex-Qvale lightweight, S850660, and the equally original prototype and ex-Le Mans racer E2A.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
