New sills and some floor repairs carried out but as much originality as possible was retained
Fantastic paint finish with no evidence of corrosion or damage and only tiny flaws in the paint
Superb chrome, badges and exterior trim
Original black hide interior showing very gentle patina
New carpets
Three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel
Charming overall inside and in lovely order
Modern Bluetooth/USB stereo head unit
Original tools and jack
This is an absolute stunner of a car, having been professionally repainted to a truly high standard in its original Primrose Yellow. The finish is superb and has no obvious flaws, nor any evidence of damage or corrosion.
It was treated to new sills when it was recommissioned along with some localised floor repairs, but is otherwise completely original other than the fresh paint and come chrome parts that were replaced, along with rechromed wire wheels.
The chrome and trim are very good, with all the original badges and glass.
Inside, the E-Type is in beautiful overall condition with stunning black leather seats showing a very gentle patina, but it’s a genuine low-mileage cabin and aside from new carpets the only deviation from original is a modern stereo head unit, which is easily replaced.
The door cards and headlining are in great order, as is the rear load bay.
All of the dials and controls work as they ought to, while the overall condition of the cabin is lovely, offset by a vast bank of switches and a smart three-spoke wood-rimmed sports steering with E-Type centre boss.
THE MECHANICS
4.2-litre straight six XK engine
Genuine low mileage unit
Constant 40psi oil pressure at idle
Suspension, braking system and steering overhauled during recommission
Starts and runs beautifully
Recent new discs, pads, ball joints and stainless-steel exhaust system
All suspension bushes renewed
Under the bonnet you’ll find Jaguar’s venerable 4.2-litre XK engine, the car’s original unit that matches the engine number on the log book. It has covered less than 36,500 miles from new and runs beautifully once warmed through, while the brakes, steering and transmission feel great.
Overall, it’s a stunning example of a Series 1.5 E-Type – beautifully presented inside and out and accompanied by a fascinating backstory. It’s gorgeous and truly unique.
