Ebay item 1/7/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $18,000, no reserve, no bids yet 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1966 XKE Standard Coupe-type one- 4.2 liter-6 side draft carbs from factory-73478 Miles-all 5 original true spoke wheels-original tool kit in boot. It needs a good cleaning it has been in my garage for 7-10 years. I will clean it and put up more pictures if you are interested. The left side-view mirror is missing only the mirror part, there is a small crack in the paint on the back left hand side of the hatch, there is another small crack in the paint on the hood near the wind shield, the leather seats are aged and there is a kiwi sized hole in the left corner of the driver's seat. My father purchased the car in 1986 for my mother as a wedding gift.

this car is now in the Uk, and owned by my wife. I'd like to know anything about its history, especially in the Uk. Anyone out there with any info? A uk registration number would be very helpful.

This auction is likely a scam, beware. Seller travis21, said to be in Pennsylvania, VIN not provided and using same photos from 2011 auction.

It is a matching numbers car. This Jag is nice and original underneath. All original panels, no patches, just factory sheet metal.

History: I bought this car from a good friend and it has been sitting in my garage pretty much untouched since then.
The car was removed from daily service in 1997 in order for the previous owner to begin a restoration.
The owner passed away and his son ended up with the car and it began gathering dust in his garage.
From there, it made its way to me. Fast forward to now.

Auction ran it's course but didn't reach reserve. Any one got any more info whether it was a genuine auction or not?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
