www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19289/lot/246/

Auction description:
Lot No: 246
1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre Coupé
Registration no. LVJ 7
Chassis no. 1E21081
Engine no. 7E6533-9

Sold for £44,783 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Acquired by the current owner in 1990, this E-Type coupé has since undergone a programme of refurbishment and improvements, commencing in 1991 when the engine was rebuilt incorporating a re-ground, lightened and balanced crankshaft together with high-performance camshafts and up-rated valve gear. The body was treated to a 'bare metal' restoration that same year and then in 1993 the interior was re-trimmed. Further work has included the installation of a big-bore exhaust system (in 2001) while in 2004 the suspension was upgraded, the rear hubs and driveshaft universal joints replaced, and wider wheels, vented front brake discs, 4-pot callipers, Koni shock absorbers, a stainless steel exhaust manifold and electronic ignition fitted. Further restoration of the bodywork was carried out in 2005-2006 including a new bonnet and rear wing. A well restored car, 'on the button' and ready for fast road use, 'LVJ 7' is offered with sundry restoration invoices, MoT/tax to June 2012 and Swansea V5.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
