Jaguar E TYPE MKI 4.2 2 SEAT COUPE 64 (C)
Opalescent Silver blue

Blue leather. Number 48 of the 4.2 MKI cars. Painstakingly restored to the highest standard and originality which includes detailing to the extent of having the glass professionally polished in order to preserve the 1964 kite mark. MKI E types of this quality are becoming increasingly rare in the market place. A true investment opportunity.

Sold by the Classic and Sportscar Centre near Malton in January 2019. Abbreviated seller's description below.
www.classicandsportscar.ltd.uk/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-4.2/classic-cars-sold/3925 ...

This magnificent Series One 4.2 FHC is the 48th RHD Coupe off the production line and is a matching numbers car still retaining its original colour of Opalescent Silver Blue. The car was manufactured on 22nd October 1964, the launch month of the 4.2l E Type, dispatched on 11th November 1964 and distributed by Henlys Limited London.

In 2010 it was subject to a major and the owner was careful to retain the original features, For example the windows were carefully polished ensuring the original kitemarks were kept in place and lots of time went into sourcing the original everflex body colour webasto material for the sunroof. The restoration ensured there were perfect bodylines and panel gaps. A new bonnet was fitted and the shell painted to show standard.

The work was carried out by a Morgan main dealership in Cornwall and by M and C Wilkinson in South Yorkshire. It had new upgraded front brakes, electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust system, new adjustable shock absorbers, new clutch, new propshaft, the coolant system and fuel system were overhauled, period seat belts fitted, tyres replaced, all electrical work overhauled, dashboard bezels replaced and instruments serviced, a period radio fitted and the car completely retrimmed.

It has covered only 1500 miles since completion and is in outstanding condition. This is a very special car, it drives as you would expect the ultimate E Type to drive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
