This car was manufactured in July of 1967 and held back for the August registration.
It was fitted at manufacture with one of the prototype open headlamp bonnets, we believe that it was one of the first road going cars fitted with the open headlamps that allow you to see at night, it kept all of the earlier controls and switches and was manufactured prior to the September Worldwide emmisions deadline.

It was purchased by us in the summer 1978. I am a qualified Motor Vehicle Engineer with Jaguar experience since 1965. In 1980, on the basis of putting the car right before things started going wrong, the car had covered 55,000 miles.The car was dismantled and rebuilt, repairing as required. At this time the car had a bare metal respray, the door skins were changed, sill panels removed and the chassis structure checked for corrosion and treated, new sill panels were installed.
We then ran the car, maintaining it in the various garages that I managed or owned until 2002 when I decided to take early retirement and sell my garage.I decided to take this opportunity to update the car sympathetically to a more modern reliable specification.
The following work was undertaken:

Jaguar electronic ignition installed
Coopercraft front 4 pot calipers installed
New rear calipers
New brake hoses
Upgraded Servo
New master cylinder
Longlife lower balljoints installed and worn bushes replaced

The engine was removed and the following work was undertaken
Ligthened and balanced by Baldyne Engineering
Crank taken to 10 thou undersized
Pistons to mid compression to enable running of unleaded fuels and rebored to 10 thou oversize

The car was converted to a 5 speed gearbox
Stainless steel 6 branch manifold and exhaust
Gas flow trumpets installed, carbs were overhauled and rejetted to allow for extra power potential.

The car is finished in red base coat and laquer

The car will now travel at 100 miles an hour at 2,800 rpm and can return 30mpg, driving and sounding really docile, or it can snap you back in the seat, roaring from the front intakes and howling from the exhaust. You can choose the experience!

Purchased by its current and only third owner in 1978 this genuine right hand drive car has been the subject of continual restoration and development as the current owner is an experienced Jaguar technician and was the partner in a small specialist engineering shop working on sports cars.

Over a period of time the body had received a bare metal re spray and many mechanical up grades have been incorporated in the car. Modifications to the original 4.2 litre engine include conversion to run on unleaded fuel, lightening and balancing the engine, larger jets fitted to the original SU carburettors and gas flowing the intakes. A more powerful alternator and stainless steel sports exhaust has also been fitted, along with a 5 speed gearbox. The front brakes have been up rated to coopercraft units and the rear brakes received new callipers.

In all the already potent E Type has received much need needed and worthwhile upgrades to suit 21 Century driving while making an exciting car even better to drive.

Finished in red with a black interior the car comes with a history file containing the original buff log book and the current V5 and new MoT, as well as many old MoTs stating the mileage. Showing 77,000 the vendor believes the mileage to be correct, having only covered some 27,000 miles while in his ownership. A truly driveable and well presented car, it will bring much enjoyment for its lucky new owner.

This smart, red E-Type dates from 1967 and has been in the current ownership for almost 30 years. Twenty years ago a bare metal repaint is thought to have been undertaken and also at this point, by which time the car had covered 55,000 miles, all bearings, bushes etc. were replaced along with additional work as required.

The mileage currently stands at around 77,000 and during 2002 the engine and gearbox were removed and the engine underwent much work including lightening and balancing. A 5-speed gearbox was fitted with a replacement clutch and stainless steel gas-flow manifolds were also installed together with a full stainless steel exhaust system. Other modifications included the fitment of uprated brakes to the front and replacement propshaft. The rear drive train was also rebuilt and the car has been carefully maintained on a regular basis throughout this ownership. When inspected it started readily, sounding extremely healthy and, during a short test run, performed briskly, feeling extremely taut.

Now reluctantly offered for sale due to the owner’s passion for sailing, this well-sorted E-Type is ready to provide thoroughly enjoyable motoring for its new owner. A current MOT certificate is included, valid until November 2007, along with a Swansea registration document. Estimate: £22,000 - £25,000
