For sale at Alastair Bols Modern and Classic Road and Race Cars of Halstead. Described as a stunning lightweight roadster finished in Ecosse Blue with white racing strip. The work lavished on the car has been extensive with a no expense spared bare metal restoration, converted to RHD and developed to lightweight specification. The interior has been fitted with lightweight bucket seats trimmed in black leather and red four pivot harness belts mounted to the full T45 roll cage.
Using his own excellent condition E type roadster as the starting point for the conversion, an original 4.2 litre roadster with matching number engine imported from America in 2004, the single UK owner has completed a total transformation using only the best lightweight specification 'Rod Jay' aluminium panel work, components and performance parts throughout. Work was completed in 2014 and it delivers fabulous performance from the CKL Developments uprated 4.2 litre engine fitted with Mallory ignition mated to a Borg Warner 5 speed gearbox.
The original engine has been rebuilt and uprated to race specification to include a gas flowed head, competition pistons and con rods, D type specification camshafts, 1.5 inch competition lightweight followers, completion valve springs, D type specification inlet valves,, competition exhaust valves, high flow oil pump, triple Weber DCOE carburettors, lightened and balanced flywheel and stainless steel manifold and exhaust, all tuned on a rolling chassis with carburettors re-jetted to synchronise with the electronic ignition.
The Borg Warner T5 gearbox has been rebuilt. Brake callipers rebuilt and new brake discs and pads fitted. New lightweight wheels and hubs with fitted spinners. It has a steel chassis fitted with stiffeners and aluminium panels and trim. Fitted with a hard top, long range fuel tanks and lightweight seats. It has FIVA papers and can be used as a fast road car in Club events, sprints or hill climbs. 56,300 miles recorded. £139,950.
