This car should not be classified as a Series 1, but as a Series 1.5 per the JCNA '68 Judges' Guide, page 2, based on the OTS, LHD Build records. The Series 1 ended at 1E15888. Your xkedata.com website has also confirmed the same information in the "About the XKE" section under "Models", showing the differences between the 4.2 Series 1 and the Series 1.5. This car is a Series 1 1/2.

    2011-10-26 18:36:42 | pauls writes:

Correctly attributed, JCNA has decided to adopt the S1.5 (and S1.25) description to avoid confusion but not Jaguar. The S1.5 is not a formal Jaguar designation and not in any factory publications.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
