This 1968 Jaguar XKE roadster is finished in gray with a black soft top over a matching black leather interior, and its 4.2-liter inline-six is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car reportedly was sold new to a doctor in Southern California, and it changed owners in 1975. In 2019 the seller acquired the car from its second owner of forty-four years, and it has remained in California. The seller has overhauled the suspension, installed Vredestein tires, resealed the gearbox, replaced the carpet, and added a stainless-steel exhaust system. Under previous ownership at least a decade ago the exterior was refinished, the driver-side floor pan was replaced, and the powertrain was rebuilt. This Series 1.5 XKE roadster is now offered in California with records and receipts from 1975 onward, a number of removed factory parts, and a clean Montana title. The car is said to have been delivered new in Willow Green and was refinished in gray more than a decade ago. Features include a black soft top and matching boot cover as well as chrome trim. The seller notes stone chips in the paintwork and signs of over-buffing.The 15″ wire wheels have been powdercoated black and wear two-ear knockoffs. The tires, front and rear suspension, and rubber suspension bushings have been replaced under current ownership, when an alignment also was performed and the wheel bearings were rebuilt.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather with a matching black dashboard and door panels. The driver-side floor pan reportedly was replaced more than ten years ago, and the seller has added a Bluetooth-capable Alpine stereo as well as an Alpine amplifier. The carpeting has been replaced, at which point Dynamat sound-deadening material was added,
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors and produced a factory-rated 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The seller states that the engine and gearbox were rebuilt more than 10 years ago, and the firewall retains Willow Green paintwork. The gearbox has been resealed under current ownership.
The engine-block stamping reads 7E17104-9, matching the stamping on the data plate affixed to the firewall.
