Car single owner from new, bought September 2018 and imported back to UK

I bought this one owner car from new! A beautiful matching numbers 1968 e-type from a dealer in MI USA in October 2018 and brought it back to the UK where it will, by January 2019, have been converted to RHD and then to triple SU carb set up. It had been extensively restored by the PO before ill health forced its sale, the restoration including the repaint was carried out in a period spanning 2014-2017, with $70k of spend receipts provided.

Ebay item 1/17/19

www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Jaguar-Other/153343229309

Current bid: $40,099 no reserve, 3 bids 4 days left in auction, seller indyyank, 62k miles, car now said to be in Westerville, Ohio.

Seller's description:

The car features its original 4.2 L, 6 cylinder engine and 4 speed manual transmission, both of which operate in suburb fashion. The body is straight and the black metallic paint is deep and beautiful. The underside and floors look great. The tan leather interior has fresh materials throughout and complements the fully operational set of instruments. The spoked wheels are bright, crisp and super reflective. They are wrapped in fresh, radial tires that look great and provide a smooth comfortable ride. The spare wheel, jack and related tools are nestled in the rust free spare tire well.

June 2019, i changed the 3.54 diff to the UK spec 3.07, it feels like an extra gear has been added, creates a much improved drive, especially at cruising speed. Whilst the IRS was off the car for the diff change the rear suspension was overhauled with new adjustable height shocks, plus all new rubbers. In addition the brake calipers front and back were replaced with Coopercraft uprated brakes. The difference in handling, braking and driving is significant, a worth while upgrades i would recommend to others.

Dizzy changed to a 123 distributor, rev counter converted to read correctly by Speedycables. Improved running and mpg, worth the investment.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
