On Bring a Trailer 5.27.15 using ID for an XJ6-based Realm Engineering D-type kit car. High bid auction $39500 reserve not met. Likely nothing E-type at all. T5 box, XJ6 suspension etc.

    Sellers description:
    Lot #331
    Location: Marietta, Georgia
    Chassis: 1E17337
    800 miles since build
    Two owners from new
    Jaguar 4.2L engine
Tube frame chassis with adjustable coil-overs
    Faithful recreation

This 1956 Jaguar Long Nose D-Type replica was built in Tampa, Florida, by Predator Performance -- a noted Jaguar restoration shop. A two-owner example, this one sports a custom tube chassis, Jaguar 4.2L engine, T-5 5-speed transmission, adjustable coil-over suspension, and modern performance upgrades. The car was newly constructed 15 years ago and carries the Series 1.5 E-type roadster VIN #1E17337. Performance and handling is said to exceed that of the original, and with just 71 original D-Types produced between 1955-1957 and real ones fetching over $4 million, this presents a great opportunity for D-Type style motoring at a small fraction of the cost.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
