This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster was acquired by the current owner in 1978, and and a restoration started shortly thereafter was completed in 2008. Finished in Carmen Red over tan leather, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan soft top, sealed-beam open headlights, 15″ wire wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple SU carburetors, and a retro-style stereo. The tires were replaced in preparation for the sale. This XKE is now offered on dealer consignment with a Series 2 owner’s manual, service records, a matching leather luggage set, a top boot, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a clean Oregon title.
Series 1.5 E-Types featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained Series I equipment such as a small grille opening, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, and taillights situated above the split rear bumper. The seller tell us that the car was stripped and repainted in Carmen Red by Selix Automotive in Oregon City, Oregon, during the aforementioned refurbishment. The tan soft top has been replaced, and additional equipment includes sealed-beam open headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. The windshield washers are inoperative.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185HR15 Michelin XVS tires that were installed in July 2025, according to the seller. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors.
The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in tan leather, and are complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. The leather work is said to have been carried out by a former Jaguar employee who had worked at the Browns Lane plant in Coventry, England, during E-Type production. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a retro-style stereo head unit, lap belts, and a heater. The sun visors were repaired in preparation for the sale.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature are located at the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The drivetrain was rebuilt during the refurbishment, and the engine work was completed by The Bearing Service Company of Portland, Oregon.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission.
