Car has a buy it now price of $129,000 for 19 days.

    Sellers description:
1968 Jaguar XKE series 1 1/2 Roadster. This car was the recipient of a total nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. The car is breathtaking. The underside of the car is as gorgeous as the rest of it and is highly detailed. The car was purchased by us from Lindsey Davenport the professional tennis player. When the car was restored in 2006/7, the restorer and then owner outfitted the car with the three S/U carbs as opposed the the dual carb set up and had the headers porcelain coated and they look amazing. The car is absolutely over the top. This was a no expense spared restoration. This is a #1 condition total show car that needs not one thing. Pictures simply cannot do this car justice. The 4.2 liter in line six purrs and the car glides down the road on its independent suspension.

    Sellers description:
1968 series 1.5 Jaguar XKE roadster. This beautiful car has been professionally restored to show room condition. The car is Black on Black. No expense has been spared. This rotisserie restoration was completed in California. The interior and exterior are near flawless. This car was previously owned by professional tennis player Lindsay Davenport. Interior color black was chosen to make this factory black car to stand out. It is drop dead gorgeous. You will not likely find a better E type anywhere. A professional appraisal will accompany this car as well as detailed restoration pictures. The car has been appraised at $115,000 and would most likely be a condition 1- car at any show.

    Lot #67274

This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 roadster is finished in black over black and powered by a replacement 4.2-liter twin-cam inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. A refurbishment was carried out before being acquired by the seller’s father in 2010, and work has since included the installation of a PerTronix ignition system and a Wilwood brake kit as well as a replacement water pump, alternator, battery, belts, and spark plug wires. The car is equipped with a black soft top, triple side-draft SU carburetors, headlight covers, a stainless steel exhaust system, a Becker AM/FM/cassette radio, Koni shocks, and 15″ wire wheels. This Series 1.5 XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of their father with photos from the refurbishment, service records, tonneau and boot covers, and a clean California title. This example was repainted its current shade of black in 2008 during prior ownership and has been fitted with headlamp covers.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Dunlop SP40 A/S tires. The independent suspension has been fitted with Koni shocks and rear coilovers, and a Wilwood brake kit was installed during current ownership, reportedly including a replacement booster, master cylinder, and lines.

The bucket seats are trimmed in black leather, and the cabin features a matching dash, carpets, and door panels. Interior equipment includes a Becker Mexico AM/FM/cassette radio, a wood shift knob, an analog clock, and Jaguar-branded rubber floor mats.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline while auxiliary gauges are stationed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 89k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 4.2-liter DOHC straight-six is said to have been rebuilt and fitted with a larger radiator and a stainless steel exhaust system with a powder-coated exhaust manifold in 2008 during prior ownership. According to the seller, the triple SU carburetors were also rebuilt at that time, while work performed during current ownership included the installation of a PerTronix ignition system as well as a replacement water pump, alternator, battery, belts, and spark plug wires.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional photos of the underbody are presented in the gallery.

The sale includes a binder of photos and service records from the refurbishment process.

This 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1.5 Roadster is an original California car and retains its original blue CA license plates. It features the “J68” tag next to the data plate, which was assigned to the car from the California DMV – a unique original feature that is exclusive to original registered cars in the 1960s in California. The E-Type is finished in what is believed to be its original and rare and original color combination of black over black with a matching black top, boot, and tonneau cover. The XKE is powered by a 4.2-liter engine with 3 SU carbs, and a smooth shifting 4-speed manual transmission. Like all Series 1.5 XKEs, this example features the larger capacity radiator with dual fans, which improves the cooling. A previous owner of this XKE was a member of the Jaguar Owner’s Club of Los Angeles and took great care of the E-Type during his ownership. He competed and showed the car at several shows, with great results.

The Roadster is also equipped with covered headlights, front and rear European styled lenses to enhance the aesthetics, a stainless-steel exhaust system, a Becker AM/FM/cassette radio, Koni shocks, and 15” x 6” chrome wire wheels. The XKE has also benefited from a number of mechanical upgrades, including the addition of 3 SU carbs, a Optima dry-cell battery for dependability, a PerTronix electronic ignition system, a Monza speed fill oil filler cap and a Wilwood braking system. Classic Showcase has scheduled a full service and detail for the Spring, just in time for the upcoming summer driving season. This is a great example and a wonderful choice for the collector or enthusiast that is seeking a nice XKE with one of the most desirable color combinations ever produced.

This 1968 Jaguar E-Type "Series 1.5" Roadster is an original California car retaining its original blue CA license plates. The "J68" tag visible next to the data plate was assigned to the car by the California DMV – a unique original feature that is exclusive to California-registered cars from the 1960s. The E-Type is finished in what is believed to be its original and rare and original color combination of black over black with a matching black top, boot, and tonneau cover. Power comes from a 4.2-liter engine with triple SU carbs, and a smooth shifting 4-speed manual fully synchronized transmission. Like all Series 1.5 E-Type's, this example features the larger capacity radiator with dual fans, which improves the cooling. The previous owner of this XKE was a member of the Jaguar Owner's Club of Los Angeles and took great care of the E-Type during his ownership, showing the car at several events, with great results.

Updates include covered headlamps, front and rear European style lenses to enhance the aesthetics, a stainless-steel exhaust system, a Becker AM/FM/cassette radio, Koni shocks and 15" x 6" chrome wire wheels. It also benefits from mechanical upgrades on the period replacement engine including the addition of triple SU carbs, a PerTronix electronic ignition system, and a Monza speed fill oil filler cap. Koni damper and a Wilwood braking system further enhance the driving experience. These tasteful performance and safety upgrades make it ideal for high-speed rallies and tours. The car has just recently completed a full service and detail, including removing and detailing the engine and transmission. A new clutch system was installed with resurfaced flywheel along with freshening of the under bonnet and engine bay compartments.

It is believed to have been owned previously by professional tennis player Lindsey Davenport, who sold the car around 2008, while the restoration was completed around 2006-2007. This beautiful E-Type Roadster presents is a wonderful example of a very clean high-end driver, surely to give many 'smiles per gallon.' Devoid of the large taillights, heavy bumpers, and additional fittings that came to be a hallmark of later E-Types, the Series 1.5 retains all the good looks and style only found in the Series 1, with a host of welcome performance enhancements.
