Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Roadster
s/n 7E15921 engine no. 101C000 *00091*
Red with Black Interior
This particular car has been in the care of the same owner for over thirty years. It was restored in 1983, at which point it received a complete motor rebuild with new valves, guides, pistons(.30 over), and bearings. The motor was balanced with the clutch and flywheel by B.C. Gerolamy Co. A new clutch with throwout bearing, disc, and pressure plate were also installed. The transmission was rebuilt with new bearings, seals, and syncros, and the suspension rebuilt with new ball joints and shocks. Regular maintenance items were also replaced and the car had a cosmetic restoration as well, including new paint in the car's original red color, as well as new canvas top and new interior including dashboard top, console, seats, door panels, and carpets.
The car has been carefully stored since and remains in very nice condition. The owner reports that he has driven the car less than 2000 miles since the restoration, which has accordingly survived extremely well, with the appearance of having been completed 15 rather than 30 years ago. The body is solid throughout and the panels fit well. The paintwork remains glossy and free of significant deterioration or damage. It was a good quality job, although close inspection shows that the sides of the car undulate slightly and there are areas of fine orange peel. Overall, however, the car makes a strong visual impression. The chrome is in excellent overall condition with very light scratching only, as well as some light pitting. The glass and lights are in very nice shape as well.
The interior is in similarly well-preserved condition. The leather is in very good condition throughout, with minor creasing and patina to the leather. The console was redone in leather, which looks smart, and the dashboard, instruments, and switches are all in excellent order. The interior was correctly restored and finished throughout, with no untoward modifications. The carpets are in very good condition, as is the steering wheel.
The engine compartment is generally correct in appearance and fairly clean, although not detailed. The correct carburetors and air cleaner are in place, and the overall appearance of the engine compartment is of a properly cared for car that has been driven and enjoyed but not neglected. The trunk is correct in appearance with tan upholstery and correct spare.
The car runs and drives extremely well. It starts easily, the choke works correctly, and the engine is well-tuned. The engine makes good power and torque, and pulls strongly while also sounding good. The brakes are effective and the transmission works well with good synchromesh.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a solid long time California car that runs and drives great. The restoration was performed thirty years ago but the car remains in nice condition and is a perfect example to drive and enjoy thanks to its attractive cosmetics and excellent driving experience. The car is complete with tool roll (without tools), invoices from the restoration, owner's manual, and shop manual. Furthermore, with the best examples achieving in the mid $200,000s, this example represents an excellent value.
