Seller Dealer
This 1967 Jaguar E-type Series 1 Open Two-Seater Convertible underwent a nine-year comprehensive restoration under previous ownership, completed in 2016 and costing over $200,000, the selling dealer notes. He has some history on the car, including that it was delivered to the New York distributor on May 31, 1967, and names its first owner. The included Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms the car’s body, engine, and chassis numbers, as well as its original color combination of Carmen Red and black leather interior. The seller says that any metal work done to the car in the restoration used correct replacement pieces. Also, he notes that the paint has an “excellent mirror finish” and “excellent body panel fitment.” The dealer says the convertible top is in good condition, as seen in the provided photos.
The 1967 Jaguar E-type was the last of the original Series 1 models, which are considered by many to be the most desirable of the six-cylinder cars. These still had the original body details, notably the glass-covered headlights that were deleted for the 1968 model. Despite keeping the Series 1 designator, the 1965-'67 E-types were upgraded over the 1961-'64 models. Enhancements included the higher-torque 4.2-liter inline-six replacing the 3.8-liter, a fully synchronized four-speed manual transmission, improved seats and cabin ventilation, and more.
