Advertised for sale on carsales.com.au 21 June 2023, asking AU$399,995 The following description is taken from that advertisement and from an article in the E-type Magazine of April 2014.
This matching numbers E-Type was originally bought by an Australian engineer working in Singapore. It was ordered in Cream with a Red interior and was delivered with a factory hardtop. When the owner returned to Australia, his E-type came too, first to the mining town of Broken Hill, New South Wales and finally to Adelaide, South Australia where it remained in his possession for 21 years.
The second owner was a Cathay Pacific pilot, David Gerrard, who lived on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. He purchased the car from British & European Cars in Adelaide in 1987. David kept the E-type for another 21 years during which time both the engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Ian Jordan in Sydney. David sold it to a man who said he wanted to restore it, but instead promptly resold it to the Healey Factory in Melbourne, Victoria.
The Healey Factory completely refurbished the car over the next two years. The body was stripped back to bare metal and repainted. The interior was re-trimmed by Garry Blackman. New Dayton double-laced wire wheels with stainless spokes were fitted. Many mechanical upgrades were carried out, with the following parts sourced from V & A Spiteri of Blackburn, Victoria: a new aluminium radiator with 16-inch fan, adjustable Gaz rear shock absorbers, custom brushed chrome extractors, performance mufflers and stainless steel exhaust system, a new alloy header tank, upgraded front brakes with vented discs and aluminium callipers, upgraded front suspension with modified torsion bars, sway bars and solid steering rack mounts. Brand new engine and alternator wiring harnesses, new Bosch alternator, new engine rubbers and electronic fuel pump, new clutch slave and brake master cylinders.
The Healey Factory sold the E-type to a South Australian buyer, but this time without its hardtop. The buyer found that the car did not suit him and sold the car back to the Healy Factory. The E-type was then sold to Ian and Kerrie Steer in 2010. Graeme Lord has been responsible for looking after it and recently rebuilt the differential and rear end and overhauled the triple SU carburettors.
