Ebay item 6/16/10

Current bid $31,100 reserve pricenot met, 8 bids 5 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1967 XKE CONVERTIBLE 2ND OWNER OF 40 YRS 51K ORIG MILES!

All numbers match. Original Lucas headlights. Original Dunlop spare. Original Triplex tinted glass. Burgundy paint with excellent shine and some touch up. Maroon interior and black top. Engine compartment detailed to very nice street standards. All chrome in very good to excellent conditon. Inside bonnet freshly painted. New tires with less than 200 miles. Alarm system. Valve job just done. New clutch. Crane electronic ignition. Oil cooler. Aluminium header tank. High speed fan. Carbs rebuilt. New martin robey gas tank. Spin on oil filter. Quad exhaust tips. Being an aircraft mechanic, a vaccuum guage and a fuel pressure guage have been added under the dash and are easily removed. All brake calipers rebuilt and pads replaced front and rear. Floors and trunk floor solid. Bonnet hinge mounting points are excellent. Runs and drives beautifully with excellent power and superb handling. 67 is considered the Ultimate xke as it is the last year of the series 1 cars. In late 67 the headlght covers were removed and all else stayed the same. This is indeed a rare car and for this reason a well known national award winning restorer chose two of these late 67s to totally restore and take on the national circuit. If desired, glass headlight covers can be retrofitted. I can provide the name of a shop that has done this several times. It costs about $600 for parts and $600 for labor per side and can be done without repainting. This car is a REAL THRILL to drive and EVERYONE loves it! Life's too short not to drive the most beautiful car ever made.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
