The example offered today presents an unequivocal combination of low ownership history, high restoration quality, and truly visionary preservation of integrity. The owner of this vehicle has been its caretaker for almost four decades. First discovered fading into the past in a solemn field, it was rescued by a twenty year old and his father who decided it was too beautiful to go away so soon. The pair set about performing a mechanical refurbishment, namely making sure that the Jag ran well and stopped safely. The call of the U.S. Navy resulted in a hiatus for several years, and upon his return the owner decided that it was time to really give the XKE the treatment it really deserved.
XKE 1E1.445 was completely dismantled down to its chassis. Following the dismantling, all of the individual components were rebuilt to original factory specifications. All of the chrome was re-plated using the triple-plate process and cadmium plated components were treated as well. The entire body was acid dipped, scoured, and completely restored. All black items were correctly refinished with a black Imron finish. Even the upper and lower wishbone cross-shafts were plated in a matte chrome to protect them from the ravages of time, correcting the original factory method of delivering vehicles with these important elements unprotected. The restored chassis and monocoque body were treated to five new Dayton wire wheels on which were mounted the correct reproduction Dunlop SP185 tires. Finish work includes padded dash, seats and center console refurbished by BAS Jaguar interiors, and a new major re-trim kit installed by renowned Texas restorer Jeff’s Resurrections, a restorer of national champions.
Finally in 2001, the finished Jaguar was presented for judging. The score was not as high as it could have been due to minor oversights like improper hose clamps. After correcting a few like issues, serious campaigning began and this very Jaguar XKE won three consecutive one hundred-point scores in 2002 and became the JCNA National Champion. The owner has graciously supplied a great amount of information relating to the restoration, and there is an exhaustive list of over twenty awards and judging results from 2002 to present, most recently a 99.97 point judging from the JCNA Challenge Championship Concours this year.
While awards and judging results speak to the true physical perfection of XKE 1E1.445, the accompanying information and original parts speak to the vision of the owner. During restoration the engine was rebuilt, and it was recommended that the original be replaced due to potential cracks at the water jacket. The advice was taken but the original block has been saved and could be repaired and reinstalled if so desired. Original Girling shocks were not available at the time that the suspension was being reassembled so the car now rides on Konis; however, the originals have been retained as have the original headlight covers which were replaced with new examples for the judging events. Factory original manuals are also included.

Just to update info, I no longer own this car, and it was sold to someone in UK. Where it is now is anyone's guess. This is unfortunate as I had many original parts that came off the car, including the windshield. Please go to jagxke.wordpress.com for studio photographs that were taken for the auction catalog.
