Car was at auction 5/08

Auction description:
Brands Hatch Sports Racing and Grand Prix Cars Sunday 25th May 2008
Lot 215
1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster
Registration no: OTU 888D
Chassis no: 1E 1440
Estimate: £45,000-55,000

This genuine right-hand drive Series 1 roadster rolled off the Jaguar production line on the 13th January 1966 and was delivered to Henlys of London on 20th January. In 1977 the car was put into storage and twenty years later it was restored to its original condition, including a re-spray in the original colour of Golden Sand. Further enhancements were commenced in 2004 by Jaguar E-Type specialist Eagle and the work, as one would expect from Eagle, included subtle upgrades and was carried out to the highest order. The original colour combination was retained, as was the original red leather interior.

Too extensive to list in full here, the upgrades are detailed on a separate full specification sheet; a few highlights, however, include a halogen headlamp conversion and uprated heating and ventilation systems, including the cooling fan and silicon water hoses. In addition, the electronic ignition system includes high performance leads and a modern electronic fuel pump, while the braking system was uprated with a new brake reservoir, braided hoses, new master cylinder, high specification brake servos, three-pot calipers and larger discs all round; improved handling was taken cars of by sport specification chassis frames and Koni shock absorbers all round together with new rear springs.

This three owner from new example is in very good condition throughout and is supplied with nine past MoT test certificates dating back to 1975 and a current certificate valid until December of this year. A V5 registration document, original log book, receipts for all work carried out, including the Eagle upgrades, and a letter from Jaguar Cars confirming delivery and specification are all included in the history file.

Would you be so kind as to send me more photos of this car. It is fabulous. I am now restoring my car, which was originally golden sand but is now red. I am considering a return to golden sand with red. Thank you.
