Ebay item 1/6/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1967-Jaguar-XKE-Convertible_W0QQitemZ15020 ...
Current bid $25,000 reserve not met, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
I bought my midlife crisis “solver” in 1997, a few years after my job brought me to the USA. I met the former owner by coincidence at a local shop. According to him he bought the car in 1988 in New Jersey from the first owner. As the opalescent blue color was not to his liking, he gave a Pittsburgh Jaguar specialist in 1989 (photos available) the job to restore the car from scratch. The car got the standard Jag old English white color. The original blue leather interior and still-like-new mohair dark blue soft-top looks great with it. The engine was tuned (I don’t know really what was done, but it is a beast!), 3 air filters were added to the3 perfect SU’s. I still have the original bulky air filter (is as new) in which place are loud air horns installed. Then it got 5 new wider wire wheels, Goodyear Eagle GT 215-65R15 tires & 6 Koni’s which all together makes her drive much better than new.
That’s how I bought her and how she still is. I did hardly do anything to the car but it has regularly been maintained by The Philadelphia area classic Jaguar specialist. I have the original resonators, but the car has this great 4 pipe ANSA exhaust system that gives her that deep, deep sound at low speed and a thundering sound by acceleration. Because of my busy life I have been driving her only every now and then, kept her clean and stored under the cover in our heated garage. A few years ago I found one of the few original hard-tops, had it repainted black and that completed my baby! It is in beautiful shape, body, paint, interior, mechanical and she ALWAYS starts right away, summer or winter. Never had any electrical problems, unbelievable for a 40+ year “young” Jag. The meter shows only 29,362 miles (I bought it in ’97 with 28K), but I must admit that for some 2/3 years I was driving it with a broken speedometer cable, so I estimate is that the car has around 32K real miles at this moment. Chrome & paint looks just great (19 years!!!! after restoration) and just everything on this car works as it should. The only negative item is that the radio is not standard or original, but who cares about a radio in a 1967 XKE convertible with an ANSA exhaust!!!
And now, after having had & loved this beast for 11 years, I decided to part with my baby.
