Ebay item 5/19/12
MotorCarTrader.com, LLC are proud to offer this very special Jaguar E-type Series I. This is one of the most desirable years, if not the most desirable Jaguar E-types, from a drivers perspective. This great car was produced on December 7th of 1966 and dispatched on December 22, 1966. It was originally sold to an individual in Rochester, NY. I spoke to his wife as he has since passed. He owned this car until 1971. In 1971, the car was sold to a gentleman from also from a suburb of Rochester, NY for $2,500.00 with about 20,000 miles. The first owner cried when the second owner picked it up! The second owner kept the car in exceptional condition in a climate controlled environment. In addition, the second owner was very meticulous with the car and only drove the car in fair weather. Not long ago about (4 years ago) the entire car (under bonnet, trunk, door jambs etc.) was repainted Carmen Red. Furthermore, the interior was professionally and completely redone with new leather seat covers. Also, a new canvas/cloth soft top and boot were installed. The chrome, with the exception of the wheels, was redone at this time. We purchased this car in February from the second owner and the car has 42,000 miles on it now. The second owner only drove the car about 22,000 miles during his 41 year ownership. A rare find indeed and an truly exceptional automobile, both mechanically and cosmetically

This is a matching numbers car. We do have the Jaguar Daimler certificate to verify all numbers. Below are all the numbers on this Jaguar E-type for confirmation:
Chassis number: 1E14245
Engine number: 7E11429-9
Body number: 4E5997
Gearbox Number: EJ 12119

This car mechanically is exceptional. She runs excellent and is very fast. The compression is excellent across all 6 cylinders is and near factory specifications at: 1-163psi, 2-165psi, 3-160-psi, 4-160psi, 5-165psi,6-165 psi. She has great oil pressure as well. This Jaguar performs flawlessly with great power and acceleration. Most certainly this is one of the more responsive Jaguar E-types to be found anywhere. Furthermore, the car shifts perfect with no noises in any gears and the clutch feels great. The steering is very tight and the car stops well/straight with no pulling either way. It is easy to tell driving this car that it was well maintained. When driving this car, it is easy to understand why these cars are truly legendary and this car is truly a perfect example of this. It handles and drives like a dream. To highlight some of the more recent work that we did, but not limited to are as follows:
All electrical components gone through to work properly, including replacing of hazard light harness, turn signal switch and dash switches which were inoperable.
Rebuilt entire brake system with new calipers to all 4 wheels.
New brake servo/booster installed.
New Brake Master cylinder.
Entire brake system bled and system checked.
Brand new set of chrome/stainless 72 spoke wire wheels with brand new knock offs.
Set of brand new 195/65R15 Cooper Radial tires installed.
Front end alignment checked and adjusted with new wheels and tires installed.
All chassis point and steering box lubed.
Entire fuel system drained and cleaned. The tank was drained/cleaned, rebuilt fuel pump, all lines cleaned, filter glass cleaned and new filter installed.
Carburetors tuned and adjusted.
Engine compartment detailed and polished with newer manifolds installed.
Underside completely cleaned and detailed, including front suspension, rear suspension, rear end, floors, below boot area.
Spare tire compartment repainted.
Complete detail of exterior and interior of the car.

To elaborate on the condition of this car:

Paint/body: The paint is exceptional on this car. It shows extremely well with very minor imperfections. This is a show/driver car and the quality of the paint is very high level driver/show quality. The body is very straight. No signs of accidents or bonnet damage anywhere on the car. All gaps line up as they should and the doors, bonnet and trunk all close well. All body seals are newer and in excellent shape.

Chrome: The chrome bumpers and front Amco bar look rechromed and are in excellent condition. The chrome above the doors also looks as if it was redone. The door handles were most likely redone and show a little wear from use. The chrome around the windshield and around the headlamps is starting to show some minor pitting, but still presents very well. The rear light covers have also been rechromed.

Interior/Top: The interior is in great condition. The leather seats are very clean and were redone well. As expected, the driver side shows a little more wear then the passenger. The carpets are new. The rubber floor mats are new. All other upholstery is new as well. The black canvas/cloth top is new and looks great against the Carmen red paint. A new black canvas/cloth boot cover was also installed. The original Motorola radio does work. This car has the original Jaguar tool kit, jack, ratchet and hammer as well.

Wheels/Tires: The tires are brand new with less than 40 miles on them. The chrome stainless spoke wheels are brand new, as are the knock offs.

Underside: The underside is very clean. No rust anywhere. The floors are in great shape and are not caved in. The original jack points are in great shape. The rear end (rear suspension) is in great shape as well. The front suspension is also very clean. The wheel wells are really nice and clean without any signs of damage or sloppy undercoating.

Engine Compartment: The engine compartment has been detailed, so it is also very clean and beautiful. All rails and firewall are painted correct red as they should be. The underside of the bonnet is also very nice and was painted when the exterior of the car was painted.

Overall: This is a high level driver/show car. It can be taken to shows and would do well, but this car should be driven as it is an exceptional driver. We have sold a lot of e-type roadsters and this is one of the nicer Series I E-types we have offered and to be found anywhere. Sometimes you find ones that were all restored to true concours level, but never driven or can't be driven or sometimes you find good original cars. A lot of times you find neither! This is a great car that can be can and should be driven. Additionally, this car has a very special history of 2 owners with low original miles. Jaguar E-types have been appreciating and the most desirable is the Series 1 coupe and roadster, especially a later model or 1967 Series I. This truly a rare find, as Jaguar Series I E-types with great history and in this great condition are getting very hard to find. A great investment car to enjoy!

I purchased this car and took delivery on June 17, 2012. The car runs wonderfully with excellent power and torque. I will post a picture when I take the right one.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
