Asking $142,000
My father was a car collector- Ferrari 275 GTB, BMW 328 (pre-war) and a 507. His list went on. This 1967 Jaguar OTS Carmen (Signal) Red was one of his favorites. He lost it in divorce and I purchased it from my mother in 2014. She did not protect the exterior and interior, but she drove it occasionally. The paint got scratched, the leather seats split, and she left plant food on the bumpers, pitting the chrome. The engine and drivetrain are in very good condition with less than 37k. They are original to the car. Mechanically, the car is still a blast from the past to drive. A driver, as Jaguar intended.
In 2015 I began a partial restoration utilizing the services of Randy Davis, one of Chicago's sought-after Jaguar specialists. He replaced all of the rubber underneath the car, e.g., engine mounts, upper/lower ball joints, etc. He replaced the rear wheel bearings, rebuilt the front brakes with genuine Jaguar parts and carburetors with genuine SU parts. He replaced engine hoses and swapped out the points ignition system (I still have the original) for a Jaguar electronic ignition for more reliable starting. Randy has serviced the car to date. Metal Masters, Chicago Ridge, IL stripped and repainted the car. Great paint work except for the driver's bonnet grill. Paint has bubbled in this area. The interior (OSJI and Bassets materials) was replaced by Ogden Top and Trim, Berwyn, IL. Ogden also built a custom "hood" (convertible top) and boot cover using Ambla. The Chrome Shop, Rock Island, IL re-chromed all of the chrome, polished the valve covers, carburetors and intake manifold. Beautiful car.
Why am I selling? I'm not a car collector, that was my father. He introduced me to sailing, and that is my passion. Jaguars need to be driven. I want to make time for only one. It's time to let a collector have this car to enjoy. Trust me, I'll miss it!
