Built on November 29 1966, this E-Type was destined for the United States. On January 26 1967 it would find its first owner in Lynnore Moss of New York.
1E14146 was recently treated to a completed nut-and-bolt restoration by Old Yorke Classics in Pennsylvania, and finished to a very high standard. Ralph Miller (owner of Old Yorke) said the restoration was done with a focus on period correctness and concours standards. The only deviation from this concept was on the behest of the owner, a well-known collector. He intended to drive the car, and in order to protect the underside he asked for a very light undercoat. The car was finished so well and correct that this would be the only item marked down by a JCNA judge.
Of course the intent may be to drive your fully restored car, but reality has a way of interfering with best-laid plans. The owner would go on to only drive the Jag 10 miles since it complete restoration. After that the XKE would reside amongst his large collection in a climate-controlled garage.
As with any undriven restoration it is important to put a few miles on the car to accurately and completely eliminate any teething pains. Since arriving at Canepa it has received just that, and the E-Type has been fully inspected and serviced. The final touch is a concours detail that will ensure the next owner ends up with an armful of awards.
