This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was produced on November 17, 1966, and distributed via Jaguar Cars of New York. The car is said to have been acquired by the current owner approximately 30 years ago, and it was refurbished between 2019 and 2021 by Predator Performance of Largo, Florida. Work involved stripping the body, placing it on a rotisserie, and refinishing it in white. The interior was retrimmed in red leather, and the four-speed manual transmission, suspension, and brake system were also overhauled. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six, a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and a stainless steel dual exhaust system. This XKE is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with refurbishment photos, partial service records, manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and New York registration in the owner’s name.

Finished from the factory in Cream, the car was repainted green in 2007 and later stripped as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Various body panels were replaced at that time, and the exterior was subsequently refinished in its current shade of white. Details include a black soft top, recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome-finished bumpers, a louvered forward-hinged hood, triple windshield wipers, and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off spinners and wear 185-width Vredestein Sprint ST tires, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The car is equipped with a fully independent suspension, which was overhauled as part of the refurbishment.

The reupholstered interior features low-back buckets seats trimmed in red leather accompanied by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and a sliding rearview mirror is equipped. The radio has been removed, and creases are noted on the driver’s seat.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges are housed in the center stack above a row of toggle switches for vehicle functions. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was reportedly fitted with an unstamped replacement cylinder head during previous ownership, and it was cleaned and painted by Predator Performance as part of the refurbishment. Equipment includes an aluminum radiator, polished valve covers, and triple SU side-draft carburetors, the latter of which were adjusted in October 2022.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled in 2022. A stainless steel dual exhaust system has been installed.

A collection of photos taken during various stages of refurbishment work will accompany the car.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. A reproduction chassis plate has been installed, and the removed plate will accompany the car.

This car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being offered on its New York registration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
