Car to be at auction 1/13
www.russoandsteele.com/collector-car/1967-Jaguar-E-Type/30382
Auction description:
1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster 4.2 Litre - 4 speed
Scottsdale 2013
Consignment # 3008
VIN: 1E13623
Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 16th - 20th, 2013 at Russo and Steele's 13th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction.
Shortly after purchasing this 1967 XKE, it was restored by Le Stable of Glen Carbon , Il. They have restored numerous European sports cars including several Jaguars, Porches, Mercedes, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. The restorer has a long history from his youth in the 1950's and 1960's -when he raced and owned several Porches and numerous other cars.
The car offered is a numbers matching and to the best of my knowledge never been in an accident. It did have issues with rust, which was completely repaired with new heavy duty sheet metal from England. The engine runs strong, with good oil pressure and cool running temps. As a result it was not rebuilt except for a new water pump, plugs, plug wires, oil pump, record radiator--it was cleaned, painted, and polished. The transmission is strong as well, so it was resealed and cleaned. It also has a new clutch, resurfaced flywheel and new hydraulics.
The rear end was rebushed, cleaned and disassembled, cleaned, painted, and reassembled. The front suspension was disassembled, cleaned, rebushed, painted, and reassembled. The brakes were also disassembled, cleaned, rebuilt with new calibers and rotors, and new brake pads. The gauges were disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled. The dash was parted, recovered with new covering and replaced.
The body was disassembled, rusted areas repaired with new metal and the correct spot welds. All this was done on a rotisserie, then repainted with the period correct signal red. The interior was redone in biscuit leather with the originally correct kit and top from BAS in Vancouver, BC. It was then shod with five Vredestein Sport Classics and five new Dayton 72 spoke chrome wheels.
No time, nor expense, was spared in the redoing of this numbers matching 1967 XKE OTS. This car has a 4.2 liter engine and is the last of the series one covered headlight Jaguars. This makes the car highly collectible and the most sought after of the series one Jaguars.
The car has been shown several times in Jaguar Concours d'Elegance earning as high as a 99.97 and several first places.
