This Series 1 E-Type Roadster was purchased from its second owner in 2005 after being discovered in a garage where it had remained since the mid-1980s. The car was immediately sent to the restoration shop for what became a five-year, race-prepared restoration.

This Jaguar is presented with a very high level of finish from the outside filler to the lightweight E-Type wheels. Completed in Tungsten Silver with Cranberry Red racing stripes, the quality of paintwork is stunning for a car that has been fully equiped for vintage racing.

Mechanically, the car is equally impressive. This E-type is powered by a TJP race-built, high-content, heavy-duty “tank” 4.2-litre block with dry sump and triple 48 DCOE Weber carburetors. The engine produces an astonishing 380 bhp and 338 lbs./ft of torque. The chassis has a cadmium-plated reinforced picture frame and front rails, and the tub has reinforced sills, a roll cage and interior aluminum paneling.

Additionally, the car was completed with side exhaust, custom over rail headers and augers, a custom aluminum radiator with oil cooler, Koni 8300 dampeners with custom valves and an upgraded front torsion bar. Eibach springs are fitted on the rear. XJ-6 front and rear brakes have been added to enhance braking capability. The electrical system has been upgraded with a Mallory distributor. From a safety standpoint, this E-Type sports a Recaro seat with Willans five-point harness, a one-gallon CO2 fire-suppression system plumbed in the boot, cockpit and engine bay, and a Fuel Safe fuel cell with dual Holley Blue fuel pumps and stainless steel braided lines.

With over $225,000 spent on the restoration, this E-Type is an ideal candidate for premier vintage racing events in the US and abroad. This beautifully prepared roadster has been developed to comply with FIA GT3 specifications, making it eligible for a number of venues. It has yet to compete, having only attended several test days since its completion in July 2005. The sale is accompanied by many extra parts and a race day spares kit.
