This 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was purchased by the seller as a disassembled project in 2023 and was subsequently restored. The body was placed on a rotisserie and repainted metallic blue, while the 4.2-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission were rebuilt. Refreshes of the suspension, brakes, and interior were also carried out, and the blue convertible top, rubber seals, glass, and wiring was replaced. The car is equipped with a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, red leather upholstery, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, restoration photos, and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Originally Pale Primrose Yellow, the bodyshell was repainted metallic blue during the restoration that began in 2023. The chrome trim and hardware was replated or replaced at this time along with the door seals and glass, and the convertible top frame was rebuilt. Additional equipment includes a replacement blue soft top, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. The hood was repaired after it was reportedly backed into by a truck under previous ownership.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 205/70 Bridgestone Ecopia tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brakes and four-wheel independent suspension were overhauled during the refurbishment.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, toggle switches for electrical functions, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The rebuilt 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The car was rewired during the refurbishment.

Engine block stamping 7E10059-9 matches the number listed on the Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt with 3.07:1 gears during the refurbishment, as well as a rebuilt limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The Arizona title is branded “Restored Salvage”.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
